    SS Brew Bucket Modifications

I added some 1 1/2" tri-clover bottom dump valves to my brew buckets. You can find the thread here. Honestly, if you pay someone to do all the welding you want, along with the cost of all the tri-clamp parts, you will likely be well over the cost of a nice conical and will be left with a...

    Rusty Element Coupler

If you have any welding supply stores around, they will have ones that look like a tooth brush. You could also use something like this

Good luck! Please be sure to let us know how it works out for you, and more importantly, how the beer comes out!

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

I had a couple thoughts about this... Has anyone tried to see just how much draw this will create? Could you leave the lid ajar, or have a small open port across from the condenser to "sweep" more of the DMS precursor out of the pot and potentially have a closer to normal boil off rate? Does the...

    Things you shouldn't do...

Why not use the float switch to interrupt the low voltage signal from your PID to your SSR (Making some assumptions here of course...If not using a PID and SSR to control, please disregard)? That would stop your element from firing if the level gets below the float switch. I am a little curious...

    Mash Tun Temperature Control

A method you might find easier is to use a calculator to get your proper strike water amount and temp for your grain bill. Heat you water at least 5 deg hotter than you want and add the proper amount to the mash tun and stir it till it gets down to your calculated temp. Then add and stir in your...

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

BrunDog, thanks for all your work on this project! This is an awesome idea for coping with a common and major problem for indoor brewers. I had a few questions though. 1) Is the reason for using the 1/2" NPT fittings just for the purpose of using off the shelf items? In other words, if a person...

Do I Need to Autotune Again - & How do I calibrate the probe?

Look up the instructions on the Auber site, it will tell you how to correct the temp offset. I wouldn't think autotune would be necessary.

    Connectors for control panel

I use ones like these. You can get any # of pins depending on your needs. they just push on and lock. need to solder the wires (I imagine you will with any type of panel connector). There are others on ebay cheaper, this one had a better picture.Good luck.

    Problem with new Riptide Pump

Tried purging and throttling back but it still started squealing after a few seconds. I try to adjust my flow during sparging to no more than 1 gal per 5 min. I expected it to be easier on this valve, but there is a fine line between stopped flow and too much. It proved to be at least as...

5500w Ripple Element Boiling Time, Seems To Be Taking Too Long

If you aren't using a GFCI circuit, you are setting yourself up for a possible Darwin Award! NEVER mix water and electricity without proper protection. If you have a GFCI circuit, my guess is it's wired incorrectly.
