    Throwing away a batch :-(

I have about 30 bottles left and I need about 15 more empty bottles for my next batch, so I'll pour away half and throw the rest in a dark place and forget about them. I suppose there is no harm in that.

    Throwing away a batch :-(

But your liver can only filter so much alcohol so you shouldn't waste it on bad beer haha

    Throwing away a batch :-(

Haha. I think I was convinced by my LHS that it would be a good beer. I think it would of needed other things added. I done exactly the same procedure as my 1st brew. My 1st brew was a coopers real ale and tasted pretty good. Ive just ordered my ingredients for my next brew which will involve...

    Throwing away a batch :-(

So I'm about to pour my 2nd ever batch down the sink! I know some may say give it time but seriously it is disgusting! It was a can brew with added 1kg of dextrose. Its been sitting in the bottles for over 6 weeks now and it tastes exactly the same as it did after 3 4 and 5 weeks. It is like...

    Steeping

Is it a must that you use a quart for every .5lbs? I got 2lbs all together in special grains and was going to steep them in about 2.5 gallons of water, would this be too much?

    Steeping

Cheers. I'm the only 1 who will be drinking these beers give or take a couple, so having a clear beer is not that important. Thanks for ur input

    Steeping

Hi all. I'll be making my first partial extract this weekend using special grains. I've been reading up on the best way to steep my grains but come across something. Do I add my grains and then bring the water to 150*f to 170*f then let them steep for 30 mins, or get the water to temp and then...

How to make a yeast starter - Pictorial (updated)

Can you use dry yeast or does it have to be liquid yeast?

    Coopers extract.

Hi all. Has anyone done the Coopers English bitter as a extract with grains? I see Craig tube and it looks like a simple way to start on grains. Does it actually turn out a good beer?

    Wort chiller....

Thanks everyone. Will look around for parts today. Here in the UK copper seems to be a little more expensive but would still save money.

    Wort chiller....

None ever made their own wort chiller? I'm contemplating making one as its cheaper. I see some videos on YouTube but is it as easy as they make out?

    Recipes

Hi everyone. Will be doin a partial extract in a week or so, any ideas on a good relatively simple partial extract recipe? I will be getting a 5 gallon pot for this. This will be my 1st brew using grains. Any sort of light or dark ale? Cheers

    First All Grain Batch!

This thread has given me a bit more confidence in doing all grain or at least partial extract. My next batch will be a partial so I can get used to the grains and stuff. I'm looking forward to doing this. Just gotta wait till I get my latest brew out my wort so I can crack on.

    Floating hops...

I've only done it this way so far and I don't seem to be getting loads of sediment in my bottles? The crap at the bottom is below the tap so surely it won't pick up anything?

    Floating hops...

Thanks for the advice. But i will be bottling straight from the primary so I was worried that the hops would get in my bottles.

    Floating hops...

Maybe I'm reading too much into dry hopping. Ill just leave them be, sit back and have a home brew haha
