    Kegerator in the Making?

Just be aware that the temp controller would probably just run the unit as a whole, and balancing the temps on top and bottom may not be possible if one is meant to freeze and the other simply chill. If it is an industrial or commercial unit, though, it might have a nice wide range of temps...

    Cornelius Queries

Wow, his prices have been going up. I got all of mine from there for $16 each plus shipping. Bummer. kvh

    Easy Steam Infusion Mash System

This seems like a great idea, and I have intentions to build one. However, I have a question. In my mind, when I pictured this working, I imagined the steam-release valve somehow connected to the hose and therefore the MLT. This way you would build up pressure in the cooker (as they are...

    Me and Kegged beer

Well, a pint of beer is 4 oz more than a bottle. So, 3 pints of draft is equal to 4 bottles of beer. That might be the problem. It also depends on what you're drinking from bottles vs. on tap. ABV can vary significantly. Additionally, it's even harder to keep track of how much you've...

    Baltimore CL Kegerator for sale

http://baltimore.craigslist.org/hsh/406469679.html Act fast folks, it was posted yesterday and may already be gone (school is back in session) - I paid more than double for mine, and have no room for another. kvh

Another craigslist alert: Baltimore, free Better Bottle

It was free, and I was 2nd in line to get it, I think by about 5 minutes... oh well. If the first guy doesn't show up for it, I'm second in line.. alas. kvh

    Where is my leak?

I had a leaky pressure-release valve on my keg. Took a while to find because of how the valve is built. Just my 2 cents. kvh

    I want to keg!

Kegs come in lots of sizes. Generally for homebrew, you're dealing with 5 gal sizes. You can also buy 2.5 and 3 gal sizes, but they cost lots more, so unless size is an issue, go with the 5s (corny or firestone style) and just fill them halfway. Much cheaper, just as effective. Beer will...

    Shipping a keg?

Put it in a box, deposit at your nearest UPS, and ship away. You're not going to hurt it, it's not too heavy, and ship it ground - it won't cost too much. I'm guessing $20 or $30 max to ship anywhere. I get boxes with 3 corny kegs, approx. the same weight and size. Shipping was $13. *edit*...

    Ugh, bottle bombs.

IGNORE THIS ADVICE - I've learned my lesson. I just moved to a new apartment, one without central AC. I had 6, count them S-I-X bottles explode today, one in my HAND, and five of them within 3 feet of me. Glass flew across the room. I suspect it had everything to do with the heat today...

    For you Mac users

Ditto on the Beer Alchemy. The best part is their recipe files all end in .bar. Ok, that's not the best part, the best part is that it helps me make good beer, I just think it's funny. kvh

    Famous Folks from School

Not while I was a student there, but Axl Rose (then William Rose) went to my HS, and Shannon Hoon from Blind Melon and most of the members of GNR were from my hometown... Amelia Erhart taught at Purdue (in the town I grew up in) and started her last flight from there. Orville Reddenbacher...

    Watneys Red Barrel Tap

They worked for me... But sadly, I can't tell you what it is - it doesn't appear to be an engine, but those extra 2 line-barbs ? ? ? *edit* it reminds me of the faucets here: http://www.cdnbev.com/products/faucet.html , at the bottom of the page. Maybe download the catalog (pdf) and see what...

    Ugh, bottle bombs.

I lost most of 2 batches to bottle bombs, and those that have survived are carbonated beyond belief. My advice for those of you with bottle bombs is to chill the entire batch in your fridge (this will drop the pressure temporarily) then pull them out and over the sink, with your very best...

Nothern Marylanders - Urgent local help requested

Maryland Homebrew should stock them, and they're open today and tomorrow. Chris there would be happy to help you out. She's directed me to emergency CO2 refills on a SUNDAY no less. That's all the advice I have for you.... Good luck. kvh

    rubber on a quarter barrel

You could possibly slice through it with a utility knife a whole bunch and then attack the thing with an angle grinder - it'd smell terrible, but you'd eventually get through. kvh.

    rubber on a quarter barrel

Leave the rubber on and use it as a MLT. In fact, put more insulation around the thing to help hold in the heat. Drill a hole near the bottom and put in a false bottom. I have a pony keg as well and it's almost too small to use as a keggle. Unfortunately, it's what I have for now so I'm...

Going the distance for an IPA....Burton-on-Trent to Calcutta

I'm more than happy to do both of those things - didn't someone one here talk about refilling a minikeg of Heineken? That might work, of course I'd have to get rid of the heineken first which is not appealing.... kvh

    Star San

I left the bottle of concentrate sitting on my kitchen counter on numerous occasions... I'm moving out now, and have noticed rings in the shape of the bottom of the bottle, etched into the counter top... oops.. I don't think my landord will notice before he returns the deposit though...
