Well it was 2 days later than expected but ups finally got it here; thanks @TwistedGray!

Update: never showed yesterday, they changed the delivery date for today. Also, while I'm always a last minute decision on these, the later the better. Need time for my last few batches of the year to condition.

I'm still waiting on @TwistedGray but we've been in communication & tracking says it should show up today.

New post a picture of your pint

Piwo grodziskie. A stronger version of the style at 6.6%. Very smokey and bitter. A victim of my keg juggling for a while, can finally really dig into it.

    Imperial Stout recipe, any feedback?

Yeah, chocolate rye is a great malt for dark beers! We talked about it in one of our club meetings and I believe I called it a "cheat code" for porters and stouts. Never tried it in a RIS though.

    Imperial Stout recipe, any feedback?

2 notes, but first off, I don't see anything glaring that needs to be changed, just throwing out my opinions on some other suggestions brought up. IMO the subtleties of a high quality base malt would be lost in a big, bold, roasty beer like an imperial stout, so I think you're good as is. Also...

    What brewery are you visiting?

I hit all 3 of those breweries in your last few posts in a trip a couple years ago. It was still during covid restrictions, so couldn't drink at Ommegang, but did at the other 2 spots. I remember liking Council Rock, but didn't have a great experience at Red Shed. A friend of the bartender came...

I only bottle for these things and competitions, can't be bothered to come up with real labels all the time for just a few bottles 😉

What I did for beer today

Kicked the last marzen keg, so down to a more manageable number of kegs. Making sure the 2 I need for Vermont are in good shape, then have 2 behind those. Also bottled a bunch of the stout recently, but need to bottle some more.

    What brewery are you visiting?

Recently went to Denver and hit 13 breweries: Lowdown, Renegade, Our mutual friend, Ratio, Odell, River North, Bierstadt lagerhaus, Black sky (2x), Novel strand, Trve, Banded oak, Baere, & Jagged mountain. Bierstadt was having their Oktoberfest, and Black Sky had a concert. Also missed a couple...

    Porter with Peat Malt

I used to add 4oz peated malt to my standard porter recipe - which works out to ~2.4%. It was sufficiently smoky, but not too strong. I also love smoke and have a different threshold than most, so take it with a grain of salt. More recently I used cherrywood smoked in a much larger percentage...

    What are you drinking now?

Trying to kick the 2nd marzen keg. Won't happen today, but not for lack of trying:

how about a meme generator thread...

Yup, and it's not even close lol.

What I did for beer today

Cleaned my jockey box and keg that kicked at my friends' Oktoberfest party over the weekend. Also still juggling kegs to get everything carbed up and ready for the Vermont homebrew fest next weekend. Also kegged my sahti since the last time I posted here.

    Dogs

I just went through this with my new puppy. I wanted something beer related, but not obviously beer related. We settled on "Korby Nelson". The middle name inspiration should be obvious, but the first name is a reference to the German beer "Korbinian". We considered a lot of other stuff like...

Lol, yeah I would too. I can't imagine I'll be disappointed with any of the offerings, so we'll see where everything lands!

    What are you drinking now?

Weihenstephaner's hefeweizen at a local German themed beer bar. So nice!

    That German Lager taste

In reference to the grape flavors: I noticed this in my maibock recently. Specifically when I drank it with food. The first time it hit me, I was drinking it with some seasoned pretzel bite things, and it came across almost like white grape juice. It's a dead simple recipe too: pilsner, Munich...
