    What brewery are you visiting?

    Nimble Hill brewing, about 40 min from camp in Pennsylvania the other day. Really good porter, Belgian and cherry sour. Bought a couple bottles of something described as a cross between a chocolate Stout and wine (place is also a winery) but yet to try. Might hit something else tomorrow.

    What was your first beer… ever?

    I think it was Michelob. I never drank in high school, and this was at a 4th of July party in between high school and college (an "adult" party, not like my friends and stuff). I remember drinking it just fine, but thinking "this is beer? What's the big deal?".

    What I did for beer today

    Kicked the schwarzbier, so cleaned the line and put the grodziskie on. The other day I did more keg troubleshooting, and of the 3 I thought had issues, I think 2 are fine. Unfortunately the one I still think has an issue is one that's on right now...

    Yeah, it's got a strap. The reviews said it's kinda weak, so we'll see. Not a major feature for my purposes regardless.

    Yeah, I bring kegs to places fairly often, so it was about time I got something like this. Throw some ice in and should be good for a couple days based on reviews I read.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

    Brewed up a brown ale today. All of a sudden I'm getting ~5% worse efficiency over the last couple of batches. Must be something with the mill I'm guessing, but I haven't been doing anything different, as far as I can tell.

    I haven't tasted mine since I racked it to the keg. It has been lagering in the back of my kegerator waiting for an open tap line. The gravity sample was great though, so I've been itching to get into it!

    Shipped my NHC entries, grabbed some grains that a local spot let our brew club tag along on an order, cleaned the last keg that kicked and the line it was on, trouble-shooting possible issues with a couple of other kegs.     (Finally) kicked the gruit-stout, so the black IPA is on. Also means I can get into the schwarzbier more.

    New York 25th Annual Brew Off Homebrew Competition

    Got a silver for the gruit-style stout which I just threw in since I had it, so that's awesome. Crappy score on the doppelbock. It was great on tap, so I blame the cbc-1 yeast I used to bottle condition it.
