    DIY glycol tank idea.

I recall someone had a thread here where they modified a dorm fridge to hold/chill the glycol. They essentially carefully bent the freezer portion downward to the fridge and filled the fridge with glycol. If I can find the post again, I'll update my post.

    BrewSSSiphon Report

I've enjoyed having this around for when I need it. It's pretty heavy duty, but it's Achilles heel is the cap at the bottom. Be careful not to drop it straight down when using, otherwise the cap will be cut by the prongs inside. The owner was great about replacing it under warranty. Buy a...

    Stale Black Patent Malt

I, hesitantly, just used leftover carafa malt from 2016 in a brown ale. The beer had no off flavors that I could pick out from using the old malt. I think you'd be safe.

    Cracking of plastic auto siphon?

I got tired of replacing cracked plastic siphons every few years and bought the stainless one. The thing is a beast and will hopefully last a lifetime.

    Hot sauce problem?

I fermented some onions, peppers and tomatillos in a 3% brine. The cloudiness dropped out and this was hanging off the top of the brine. I’m thinking it may be some skin off the onions that’s started to drop. Is this safe or should I dump this experiment?

    Seeking Fermenter equipment advice.

I started with glass carboys, but they are awkward to carry and dangerous. I got a few plastic better bottles, but couldn't clean them as well as I'd like to and the fear of scratching them with the carboy brush made me look into stainless. I found some cheap Stout conical fermenters on...

    Critique my Wheatwine Recipe Please

Your recipe looks good. I'm not sure dry hopping would add anything since its going to age for a bit. I'm brewing a wheatwine Saturday tentatively using 15 lbs wheat, 5 lbs pilsner, 3 lbs munich and plenty of rice hulls. I was planning on magnum for bittering and cascade/centennial for...

    The decline of the LHBS?

The LHBS never has the one thing I need for brew day, so I try to avoid going since its about an hour round trip. That being said, if I need a normal american ale yeast, I'll pick it up at the LHBS. Any other yeast strain, I'll now call ahead to see if its in stock. I get bulk malt through my...

Mead Fractional Freezing Distillation Advice Needed

When I made apple jack, I could feel the headache setting in as I was drinking it. If I were to try it again I'd run it through a Brita filter to strip some of the toxins out of it.

    Sudden Leak in Ball Lock

I had this issue a while back. I replaced all the O-rings, used keg lube liberally on the hatch O-ring. I then cranked my CO2 to 50-60 psi and set the lid, checked for leaks, then set it down to 12 psi to carbonate. I was told that since the cornys used to hold soda at a higher pressure, you...
