    BIAB in 10 Gallon Kettle

Just another plus 1 on yes to all of your questions. In fact, those are about exactly all my typical numbers only I use 8.5 g of strike water for 11-14 pounds. Looking at one of my recent batches: 8.5g water, 14 lbs grain, OG 1.065 and I had 6.0 g in fermenter. 10g Kettle.

    Getting back into brewing

Is this getting back to the Gym Brewery thing? ;) You know, I have to lift all that water up to the BK/HLT/Mash Tun - whatever we call it in BIAB. Then hoist all that spent grain and water, then carry the wort inside to the fermenter. Then carry the kegged beer back out to the garage/gym/place...

Spike Conical- observations and best practices

Fermenting my first lager in the CF5 since getting the TC-100 and the Penguin Chiller. In the past, I fermented lager in a keg. Pitched at around 68F (room temp). Then put in uncontrolled fridge that was about 45F after 8-12 hours and it would get to whatever temp - 45-ish probably over a day or...

    Grain Mill Recomendation

Have a Monster Mill. MM-2 2 roller. Use a 1/2" drill to run it. 8-12 pounds of grain for 5 gallon batches goes pretty quickly. Happy with it. Haven't used any of the others. It was $199. Easy to adjust, but I do check the gap (I use .018) each time I use it as it can loosen.

What should harvested yeast look like?

+1 Looks like this. Sometimes more slurry in bottom than these two but these both have plenty:

I finally made a beer my wife likes!

I know others of you out there can identify with this challenge. My wife’s favorite commercial beers are Grolsch and Stella Artois. But she’ll like stouter, darker beers from time to time, like a Vanilla Porter. Some wheat beers, even a Guinness sometimes. My homebrews always seem to be too...
