Ummm Wow! I guess this is why we brew!

Ehh I can wait. Just crunched the numbers and its probably sitting at just below 4% alcohol, so I'll let it run.

Ummm Wow! I guess this is why we brew!

At what point should I bottle? Should I take another Hydro sample tomorrow and Saturday and see if its still holding at 1.015?

Ummm Wow! I guess this is why we brew!

So... my beer has been fermenting for 8 days now, and I decided to take a Hydrometer reading, since I was really scared the first day with the high reading. Today the reading was 1.015... really close to what Beersmith said it should be. However, I threw the airlock back on, and its still...

    light exposure?

How much sunlight does it take to skunk your beer? I noticed that where my beers are sitting, a little bit of sun is hitting the carboy in the afternoon. I've since covered them up with t-shirts...

    Sam Adams Blackberry Witbier

The same could be said for stouts ;) Yuck! Oldsock/TheDom - Thanks for the information. I'm going to go for the real fruit route. It's not so much the taste, as it's quite strong... it's the smell and the undertones I love. I grew up eating Oregon Marionberries/Blackberries when I...

    Glass or Better Bottle

If you look at the sticky, there is a "This vs That" thread. I went with glass, and I enjoy it. That way I feel somewhat good about slamming a few beers after I was lifting weights (full carboys). :)

    First Brew Underway...

Yeah I have a trusty bottle of starsan in a spray bottle. Sprayed down the inside and outside plus the bung as well. Had to leave early this morning for all day, so I get to see what happened tonight at 6pm.

    First Brew Underway...

Woke up this morning to find my airlock full of krausen. So I btook the airlockout and shoved a hose in the bung and the other end in a bucket of sanitizer. We'll see how that works out.

    Sam Adams Blackberry Witbier

I'm looking for a cloned extract recipe. Anyone know of one, or have suggestions for where to start? After reading numerous threads about this beer on this site, it seems no one likes it :( I happen to be a fan of fruit beers, and Wit's are my favorite. While this is not a true Wit, it is...

    First Brew Recipe Question

It really depends on what you wanna do. The more sugar (DME) you put in to the fermenter, the more alcohol % you will have. What yeast strain did it include with it? If you want to follow the instructions and only put 2lbs of DME in, just put 2/3 of the package.

My first infection thread... please help me decipher these pictures

Well... I did use Edworts recipe, but I got the yeast from one of the LHBS, and the place was rather sketchy. I wasn't sure how long the yeast had been in the store, so I wanted to make a starter. I bought some yeast starter (basically a small amount of DME) and pitched it in to my growler I...

    Sanitation Question

Star San is no-rinse. Don't worry if there is foam or bubbles, its still no rinse. I tried it yesterday, and it's nice, but caustic. Just be careful what you spray it on, or near. I found my granite coutnertops had a nice white residue on them that had to be scrubbed off, because the mist...
