Belgian Dark Strong Ale Westvleteren 12 Clone - Multiple Award Winner

I brewed a version of this back in MAR 2015, aged in a keg for some time and bottled about a month ago. I've cracked (2) so far and both have a head issue. They pour like soda. By that, the CO2 is releasing violently while poured creating a head and then quickly dissipates and appears flat...

    How to make AMAZING IPA

From what I've heard, blowing CO2 through the bottom will release aromatics from solution and have a detrimental effect on aroma. UNLESS you have a sealed vessel. Problem is most homebrew sized conicals can only take ~4psi.

    How to make AMAZING IPA

No, no torpedo. Dry hop in fermenter and attach a pump to recirculate... Fermenter -> pump -> back to fermenter Yes, in addition to whirlpool. Several posts about it on probrewer.com. Never really tackled on a homebrew scale because to make it most practical, you'll need a conical...

    How to make AMAZING IPA

I think we're to the point now, we can begin talking about dry hop re-circulations. Is anyone here doing it? It's the next step I plan to take. According to Peter Wolfe's thesis from Oregon St, you can extract up to 40% more hop oils via re-circulation, and it's all done in about 24 hours...

    Cheers from North Cackalacky.

CityBev does sell supplies but they are more expensive and probably not as fresh. *Homebrew CLUBhouse (not warehouse) I should add too, if you need specific help with something, or a part, nothing beats going to Dan's. I rode out there yesterday looking for a solution to a problem. Dan spent...

    Bourbon County Stout clone attempt

Several posters were trying to create the GI recipe in Beersmith. I created one to get your started. Note that it's for a 10-gal batch at 74.4% efficiency with a 2-hr boil. Scale it to your system and adjust accordingly. For example, I'd scale to my equipment, probably lower the efficiency...

    Cheers from North Cackalacky.

Since you're in WS, I have to throw out a plug for Homebrew Clubhouse on Hawthorne Rd in Ardmore. John's still getting the shop set up the way he wants it, but is a super nice guy with great, great prices (and AHA members and Worthawg members get 10% off). Regarding the Breakfast Stout...

Bypassing the Temp Probe on a Window AC

I'm looking to do something similar to this soon but using the Inkbird Temp Controller. On (almost) all window units, I should be able to clip the (2) wires connected to the thermostat and connect them together and the unit will stay on all the time, correct? Putting total control in the...

Fermentation CHamber reached 15 degrees above ambient. Too big?

I've seen your pic a bunch over the years on here at BA. I've just now got a conical and dealing with the issue of temp control. Did you override the AC's thermostat? I'm having problems figuring out how to do this. When Google'g it, most link just tell you not to.

    Leaking Kegs (CO2)

Depends. I drained a CO2 tank overnight Saturday because a new keg had a slow leak in the PRV. I hooked up another tank on Sunday, added pressure and disconnected. Checked it a couple hours later and it had no pressure. I believe the floss holding the dry hop may have gotten caught up in the...

    Leaking Kegs (CO2)

Are you disconnecting the gas after filling the keg? Sounds like CO2 is going into solution. Everything is fine.

Beer of the month club recommendations

My suggestion would be to create a personalized pack of beer and save your money. Most of those clubs are crap. My wife got me one a few years back. I told her how thoughtful that was and I appreciated it, but next time, just give me the money to buy good beer. Another idea that may...

Blichmann Beer Gun or is it?

Finally got to use this thing Friday night. Bottled 4-cases and the thing was near flawless. I wrapped tape a little thicker than I normally do to get rid of a persistent CO2 leak but it was fine after that. I had my pressure set to 4-5psi with a 10' beverage line. About 5 bottles total had some...

The "We'll fix your label for you" thread

@TheCADJockey you are killing it. Maybe it'd be better to give you some beer names to see what your creative side comes up with. I have (2) imperial stouts I'll be bottling soon. One is a bourbon oak aged named BLACKENED (11.7% 03/14/2015). The other is an homage to Black Tuesday (19.4%...

The "We'll fix your label for you" thread

The skyline I like is something like this. But for a small, secondary logo, it doesn't need to incorporate that. Just something slick looking that would work on bottlecaps and Tshirts!!

The "We'll fix your label for you" thread

Wow, some amazing work being doing in this thread!! That Marking Mad label was really killer! I, like BNolt17, am looking for some sort of logo design for Twin City Brewing Co. I'm thinking we'll do a silhouette of our skyline for larger logos, but I'm interested in something small that...

Want to move to North Carolina

I would argue the trend is in the exact opposite direction. Sorry you had a sour experience in NC but your description applies to about 2% of NC's population; not the trend.
