can you fix a leaky keg?

I will. would a flat tip punch do more damage than good here?? I might be able to give more precise shots with a punch. I'll see how it goes. I'll try to persuade it with the block of wood first. thanks for all the suggestions.

can you fix a leaky keg?

well.......he's a good guy afterall. He's gonna refund my money, and let me keep the ones he sent for parts. He said they must have shipped from the wrong stock. The opening flanges are clearly warped outward on these. So all is well i guess. just gotta find me a good one real...

can you fix a leaky keg?

thanks for the suggestions. i haven't tried any keg lube. two of them leak pretty bad. the lip of the kegs look warped. I can see the o-ring when it's closed. shot this earlier and sent to him. I might be able to get the last one to go with your suggestions. I'll give it a shot tomorrow...

can you fix a leaky keg?

bought two corny kegs off of ebay. the guy had 100% feedback. They didn't hold pressure. one leaked at the lid, the other at the poppet valve. Let the guy know, he sent me two new ones no charge. Cool, right? Both the new ones leaked at the lid. Let him know, waiting to hear back. Tried...

    Wort Chiller Size?

ouch. hawaiian prices hurt. i just bought 20' of 3/8 copper at the depot for $27. just need a couple hose fittings and I'm good. I'm actually putting this one together for a prechiller. our water here isn't very cold through the summer months. the 25' is fine for a 5 gallon batch.

How long did Mr. Beer hang here?

i started with a MB. It got me excited and I found this site. B4 my one and only MB batch was finished I bought a carboy kit, and after getting even more excited I was doing AG by my fifth batch. but back to the MB batch, it turned out ok. it was cidery but i drank it. :cross:

    First Partial Mash...

get that doggy down. one of the best investments i made lately was a $4 large plastic tub that I plop my carboy in, add some water and ice as needed to keep the temp down. works nice, and gives me an excuse to look at it.;)

    Dead yeast??

you're lid may not have been completely sealed. If you have residue on the sides above the liquid, the krausen may have already subsided. Did you do a kit? Do the instructions have a target OG? Tomorrow get a hydrometer, a backup packet, then take a reading.

    Slow fermentation problem solved

haha. nice. I just made my first starter last week too for my weekend brew day, and experienced the same thing. The shortest lag and biggest krausen I've had. Congrats on your baby hefe!

How often do you drink homebrew???

I usually have one a day. if there's a fooball game on i'll have more. :drunk: My inventory is getting low :( . But I brewed this past weekend.

    Any Last minute advice?

that's what I would do without a chiller. getting 5+ gallons down to pitching temp would take a really long time. Good luck and have fun. :mug:

    Windsor Yeast

i second the re-pitch. I used windsor on my first batch. It only got to 1.026 and stayed there. It was my first one and made some mistakes, but wanted to drink it, so I bottled. It wasn't done. At two weeks it wasn't bad. after week three, it overcarbed and got funky.

    Reducing the bitterness?

you can reduce the bitterness, by moving all your bitter hops(60 min) to the last 20 min of the boil. you'll get a mellowed bitter.
