    Do you guys normally add the water at 180* and then add the grain at, say, 155* to account for the grain lowering the temp of the water further? This is assuming at 152* desired mash temp.

    Why not get a submersible pump and dunk it in a tub full of ice/water. Pump that water through the immersion chiller and you're good to go.

    Heh, I have this burner but haven't had a chance to use it yet. Maybe next week I'll get a chance to fire it up. Supposedly it's 55,000 BTU. I would think that'd be plenty... ;)

    I think my wife and I are going to head up to New Glarus, WI to hit their Oktoberfest this year. I don't think it's all that big, though. It seems to focus primarily on the brews of New Glarus Brewery.

    I'm in the QC in Davenport, but I haven't even brewed my first extract batch yet. I'm still compiling equipment here. I certainly wouldn't mind sitting in on an all grain brew to see how the process goes, though. I have a rough understanding from my readings here and in Palmer's book.
