Think ahead, brew your Pumpkin Ales now!

You put your pumpkin right in the mash? I have only ever made 2 pumpkin beers both times put pumpkin right in boil. Very first time I put in way too much and only got 3.5 gallons from a 5 gallon batch. Do you get the same pumpkin flavor by adding it to your mash? How about stuck sparges? Any...

Question about Sam Adam's "2 Row Blend"

Got ya well that makes sense, thanks for clearing that up. I guess for my recipes I'll just have to pick a few malts that are 2 row and just do a little trial and error.

Question about Sam Adam's "2 Row Blend"

So what is a 2 Row Base? For example I use the Brew Pal app for the iphone and it has an option for 2 Row Base and 6 Row Base. Are these essentially pale malts?

Question about Sam Adam's "2 Row Blend"

Whattawort not a problem... I guess I need to better understand what 2 Row malt really is. I wonder if the Wiki explains it and/or has a list of all the malts that are considered 2 Row.

Question about Sam Adam's "2 Row Blend"

Since fall is coming I have been searching for some recipe ideas and was just on Sam Adam's website. They use a 2 row blend, from what I read on their website I made the assumption it is a blend of 3 different 2 row malts. I guess my big question is how much difference in flavor is there...

My shamelessly cheap $12 DIY stir plate

All my materials are in, going to put this together tonight. Just thinking about the washer being used. Curious is the washer needed, it is said to be used to shield the field from the fan motor. Won't the magnetic field pass through the washer and still make it to the fan? With the magnets...

My shamelessly cheap $12 DIY stir plate

Thanks for posting this thread... My fan just arrived in the mail, now it is time to turn it into a stir plate! Sure beats paying big bucks for one or getting involved with circuitry work! Best part if the fan dies I can buy a new fan and still be saving money!

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

Just brewed this recipe for the second time on Thursday. I can safely say this is the most violent fermentation I have ever had. I'm using a blowoff tube and it is has been releasing a constant flow of co2 since I pitched my yeast. I'm fermenting in a plastic bucket and it has the lid bowed so...

    What's your favorite BMC beer?

I couldn't have said it better!! I also feel like they go down faster from the bottle, maybe because you can watch it disappear! :tank:

    What's your favorite BMC beer?

Ahhh yes tough question.....I'm going to have to say PBR in cans of course!!! High Life is a very close second but only if it is the bottle!!! think it tastes better in my opinion even if it is all in my head!!!! Don't forget about Coors Banquet! Quite tasty for a BMC!

    making a Lime Brew.

I also have brewed the Lemon-Lime Hefe Skagdog is talking about. It is an interesting brew, however I probably won't brew it as a Hefe again simply because I'm not a big Hefe or wheat beer fan. I'd like to take the lemon-lime hefe recipe and base it around a blonde ale or something similar...

Best way to re-heat smoked meat??

Got ya sounds good, well sounds like I'll do one of two things then either stay up and start it at midnight or just wake up at 3 and get it going and then go back to bed for a couple hours, ha. If I wake up at 3 and stay up I'll be dead before the party even begins! How do BBQ joints do it...

Best way to re-heat smoked meat??

I'm new to smoking and got a couple basic questions. First what is the best way to re-heat meat after it is finished smoking? We are having a little party this coming Saturday and I would like to do pulled pork but have it finished before people show up. What is the best way to re-heat the...

Show us your element housings/pots. How did you do it?

Here is my kettle, two 1500W 120V elements fed from separate breakers in my panel. My ground wire is fastened to the screw for the electrical box, I did a continuity check to ensure I have a good ground. Later down the road I believe I am going to tear it apart and weld the stainless locknut...

    Bitterness Confusion

The beers I like tend to be more malty than hoppy. That being said I am def growing a stronger taste for hoppier beers. Lately I have heard some talk about IPA's that are well "balanced" where they have good hop flavor and are not overly bitter. Instead of balanced in terms of malt to hops...
