    Keg now, or wait?

Just got a GE 7 cu ft freezer chest. I have beer thats ready to keg, but I dont have a temp controller for the freezer. Can I just go ahead and turn the temp control dial to the warmest setting, then put my keg in to force carb? Or do I need to wait until I have a better temp control?

Can you check my APA all grian biab recipe?

Just finished brew day. So I started with 4.5gal, and ended up with 2.5gal in the fermenting bucket. My gravity after mash was 1.041 My gravity in the fermenter was 1.06 1) What kind of beer can I expect? 2) What was my brew house efficiency? 3) How long should I keep it in the primary...

Can you check my APA all grian biab recipe?

Wow! Most helpful response ever! Thanks man! I'm still confused about 2 things though. How many gal should I start with, and how much will I end with? And dumb question, but when it says hops at 60 mins that means after 60 mins, right? Also, it says I should mash out at 168 degrees for 7 to...

Can you check my APA all grian biab recipe?

First time attempting an all grain biab recipe. LHBS guy helped me with the calculations and ingredients, but I would like to double check his work. You guys think this sounds right for an American pale ale? He said this will make a 3 gal batch, and to start with 3.5 gal. But then he started...

    Clip on thermometer that works

I have been searching and reading all about thermometers. Consensus is thermopen or k probe. But I just want a low cost thermometer that I can clip on my boil kettle and always see a reading since I will be doing biab and ice bath cooling. Problem is everyone says dials suck. Any suggestions...

So way down the road I could add the kettle to 3 keg gravity system? Would there be any issues with that?

wow! great video on BIAB... Really convinced me to ultimately do BIAB, no sparging, with 3 gal kegs. Looks super quick and convenient, yet still fully customizable.

    Starting a little more advanced

So to summarize, I should get: Starter Kit 9 or 10 gal boil kettle with valve wort chiller burner (induction or gas) Kegerator keg c02 possible future upgrade: cooler mash tun This setup allows me to brew from extract and all grain BIAB. Also, lets me start small, and get as complex as I...

    Starting a little more advanced

Oh, really? Can you elaborate? Most everyone is saying BIAB is what I should do. Yeah, thats why I was trying to do all grain. I can start with extract, but ultimately I want to be able to really customize my beers and experiment once I get comfortable with the process. So equipment that I...

BIAB sounds perfect. Didn't mean to get ahead of myself, but no one suggested that. Looks like it will give me more control with less expense. Thx bro

Very constructive post. Much appreciated! What setup would you recommend that would give me more control than a starter kit with extracts?

    Starting a little more advanced

Not trying to take a shot at anyone. I've said multiple times that I'm greatful for everyone's responses. Just looking for some recommendations on how to start "a little more advanced" like the thread title states.

    Starting a little more advanced

This thread is really helpful! Thx to everyone participating! After reading everyone's comments, I think I'm going to start with a 3 tiered gravity brewing system, all grain brewing, and a corney kegs in a kegerator. Sounds like all of this can be done relatively inexpensivley, and can neatly...
