51% Efficiency - Grind the problem???

Wow thanks for all the feedback! I am thinking what I may want to do is have the grains milled by my friend with the MM3 and redoing the same beer and checking measurements. I will double check all the measurements as well - hopefully there is just something stupid that is throwing it off...

51% Efficiency - Grind the problem???

Hello All, It was suggested I move this post from the topic I was in to maybe give it a bit more attention, so here goes: I am fairly new so be gentle. ;) I did a brew a few weeks ago and missed a bunch of steps but essentially got about half of the ABV I was shooting for. Last...

Great quote from Palmer on Mash Efficiency

Great quote from Palmer on Mash Efficiency

Thanks Takuie! I am using the 10 gal igloo cooler setup for mash. I use another for my sparge water. I do believe the grains may have been a week or so older, which is a bit of a bummer. I guess naively I assumed they crushed, bagged, and shipped when you ordered. I do use beer smith...

Great quote from Palmer on Mash Efficiency

Quick question on this topic. I am fairly new so be gentle. ;) I did a brew a few weeks ago and missed a bunch of steps but essentially got about half of the ABV I was shooting for. Last weekend I did another brew and took measurements throughout and ended up with a 51% efficiency after...

    Hello from PA!

So I have been lurking around here for about a year without posting, but decided to jump in. I have been into craft beer for quite sometime, but just jumped into home brewing last year. I have a 10 Gal All Grain cooler system I use. Did my first beer of the year last weekend and realized...
