2 Vessel Mash Efficiency very low.. Help?

Can you give a little more detail? Was it lowering your efficiency? I was trying to keep the husk tannin from getting pulled out (astringent) in the longer cross-sparge. Cheers (and nice setup).

2 Vessel Mash Efficiency very low.. Help?

I have sorted through the low efficiency threads I can find, but am a little bugged  with my mash lately. I have a version of this: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/countertop-brutus-20-a-131411/ Only mine is 2 keggles on two burners, run manually with two pumps. I based the idea...

Side by Side fridge large enough?

If you are brewing 5 gallons at a time - the side-by-side works very well. If i was starting over, would seriously consider a freezer, depending on your space available - My $0.02 - https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/side-side-fermanator-177212/#post2051114 Happy fermenting! Look forward...

    Side by Side - Fermanator

I started this a while back, thought I would add mine to the mix. Been running about 6 months, no issues - I put two Auber PID controllers in the freezer door and bypassed the OEM thermo - once I started cutting was done in a couple hours to current state. Still want to install Heater on...

    2362 pulsing

Are you using AC power to trigger a DC SSR? This would cause your SSR to cycle when triggered. I found this out empirically - data recorded. :rockin:

    Electronics?

That touch controller is sweet - also interested what this can be used to control and how difficult writing program would be? Subscribed. Prost:mug:

Tiny Brew (TB) - "Research Brewing System"

Latest version pic attached. Split the two plug ins and used one for PID, the other to control manually a pump. Top switch is pump. Left switch controls power to element. I have had two batches now REALLY low OG (first one 1.045 - supposed to be 1.075) - BeerSmith says this is less...

Tiny Brew (TB) - "Research Brewing System"

Thanks Kladue - seriously first time around for all of this for me. The Temp is 2-4 F off throughout my forseeable range with a "K" thermo couple - so if I can reign it in a little bit that would be great. Otherwise - RTD is on the list ... I have another question - I'm seeing rust in...

Tiny Brew (TB) - "Research Brewing System"

20:20 hindsight Reese. There are simpler ways to do this - more involved systems as well, this is just my attempt at a "trivial task" so that others may learn like I did here.

Tiny Brew (TB) - "Research Brewing System"

I am new so forgive me for stating the obvious - but when wiring a TC/RTD make sure you use correct wires and polarities. I made all the suggested changes: 1) Grounded pot as suggested (pix earlier) 2) Heat sink connected to SSR through side wall 3) Inline fuse added to protect equipment 4)...

Good News/Bad News on Temp Controller Build

Honestly - Auber Instruments has about everything you can dream up - the most excellent customer support I have experienced since spending my own money... and the guy (Suyi) will answer emergency questions on sunday. http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1

Sprinkler valve controlling water to rig??

The transformer I have says 24V 60Hz - AC voltage, its heavy but the same type used for HVAC applications. Water pressure is not as much of as issue as controlling it, I'm only using ground water through carbon filter to HLT -- or to chill wort in recirc through a plate chiller. I have...

Sprinkler valve controlling water to rig??

I'm building a brewtroller for my gravity fed system, and have a 'custom' PVC manifold that controls water during the day (to HLT or plate chiller mainly). Part of the automation (thanks Kladue!) is to automate the HLT burner, in progress, which requires 24V - so I have this available already...

No Sink? Here's a cheap bottle rinser...

If you have a spare corney - this might work for you: Total cost: ~$30 (cheaper if you already have parts) Take a small bucket ($6), one 90 degree threaded pvc piece ($~4), buy a plastic bottle blaster ($15) and a liquid pin-lock ($6), one piece of high temp tubing and connect it all up...
