    Oxy clean

Hey CliffMongoloid, I use whatever and I have at the time so I have used both the normal and the free. I just rinse well with hot water and then take a good inhale to see if I smell the oxy....if not its all good.

    Oxy clean

Hey waffles, I typically use one scoop for about 6 gallons of water. Generally I let it sit until the gunk on the sides has dissolved. I use the Scoop that comes in the container of oxy clean. Has always worked for me and I rinse extremely well with hot water.

    Caramel cream ale?

Well, from my reading the dextrose will give it mouth-feel and the lactose will give it a hint of sweetness as its not fermentable. For the "creamy" perhaps you would consider the dextrose due to the added body. Maybe someone else will chime in as I am certainly not an expert. Sorry I...

William's Kits Have no Specialty Grains

I can attest to that. I used 8lbs of their extract a few weeks ago and it yielded a 1.056 after steeping some grains. I have purchased equipment and ingredients from Williams and have always been happy with them.

    Caramel cream ale?

Yeah, mine had a strange mid-tone a couple of weeks after I brewed it but the one I just cracked open is perfect. Give it a little more time. I am going to get another batch going next weekend.

    My first infection?

I bottled a batch a couple of weeks ago and had that filmy looking layer on it. As it racked to the bottling bucket and the level in the bucket got lower the film adhered to the side of the bucket. I was a little freaked out by the experience but I tried it and it was just fine. After a...

    Caramel cream ale?

hey all, I brewed this on 5-31 and bottled it two weeks and two days ago. Tried the sample I pulled on bottling day and didn't think the sweetness or vanilla came through much. I also added 3 oz of vanilla at bottling. Popped my first one tonight, excellent carbonation already and it tastes...

    Strange Smell/Situation....I think

Hey Dynachrome, I am still fermenting so I won't know for a couple more weeks or so. I did figure out what orginated the odor I believe. Generally I will fill the fermentor with star san and toss the rest of the stuff in while I am boiling (O2 stone/wand, airlock, etc). I happened to get the...

Dynachrome, its 6.5 gallon bucket from Williams Brewing. Nurmey, I noticed that Star San had an odor also. I figure I am just blowing this out of proportion but I am just strange like that...lol Thanks to each of you for your responses!

    Strange Smell/Situation....I think

Hello all, I just about through batch one. I made a Honey Cream Ale from Williams. Everyone loved it including SWMBO, who is a major Bud Light drinker so I consider it a score! As a matter of fact, she is ASKING me to brew more! Completely shocking. So on with the issue. I searched and...

AHHHH My Baby lost her heartbeat!!!

Hello Ragman, I am just starting out also but spent a lot of time reading these forums so I will take a shot. The first thing you will read is that airlock activity is not an accurate method of gauging fermentation. Only trust your hydrometer. The type of yeast is another thing at play...
