    Homebrew too strong

I have used S04 plenty of times, fermented around 20-22 degree celsius room temperature and above and never had any burning fusel alcohol flavors. Fruity esters maybe (especially during hot summer days) but never burning flavors. Get a hydrometer, it is an essential tool. Maybe you are just...

    Unsanitized carboy

People tend to overstate the importance of sanitizers. Proper cleaning and rinsing prior the use is the most important thing, sanitizing is more an insurance on top of it. Cleaning does not kill the bacteria but it does wash most of them away if you are thorough with your scrubbing. Some may be...

First stab at all grain. Any must make beers?

Yes, a little bit over 5%. I do not remember the actual ABV because I simply always forget to write down the OG and FG. To me that is not really important, the taste is what matters.

First stab at all grain. Any must make beers?

A Citra SMaSH is amazing. My crowd pleaser fruity Citra Smash recipe is following. 5 gallons / 19-20 liters of beer 4,53kg of Pale Ale malt, Maris Otter is recommended but any will do. That is the point of Smash, experiment with different malts and hops but stick to single one at the time...

First stab at all grain. Any must make beers?

I also say start with SMaSH recipes until you nail your process down, equipment becomes familiar and you can repeat the recipes without off flavors.

How long will crushed grain keep?

I'm not sure there is any set timeline how long precrushed grains last. I mean they are more suspectible to the enviroment when open, but it is still a dry product so mold and such have a hard time growing on it. If stored in dry, dark and critter free place will it become unusable in any sane...

    I hate hop flavor

Indeed. Pale Ale is just that, an Ale that is pale in color. It can be very lager like.

    I hate hop flavor

There are always exceptions to the rule. :D

    I hate hop flavor

Citra does have a lot citrus too but it is more sweeter tasting than, say, Cascade which is another citrus tasting hop.

    I hate hop flavor

There are several Citra SMaSH recipes around the internet and this is the one that I used. The recipe is for 19-20l / 5 gallon batch 4kg 530g Pale Ale Malt, like Maris Otter 14g Citra @ 60 minutes 28g Citra @ 5 minutes 42g Citra Dryhopped for roughly 5 days The recipe said to use Safale US05...

    I hate hop flavor

What is with hops that you do not like? Because I have hard time understanding that anyone would not like a drink dryhopped with Citra because that is the same as saying he does not like tropical fruits like Mango, which is exactly what Citra tastes like. Even my sister who does NOT like beerat...

    First possible under-attenuated batch? (US-05)

I was just thinking, I have never used maltodextrin but I know it is unfermentable so it makes the liquid thicker. That would explain the higher FG. Give the vessel a little careful shake to rouse the yeast and keep it in a warm room for a week. If nothing changes then bottle it. This is what I...

    First possible under-attenuated batch? (US-05)

The yeast is fine if it got you from 1.064 to 1.016. How much maltodextrin did you put? I think your brew is fine. If you are worried bring it into a warmer room and keep it there for an extra week.

Is this grain milled? Low efficiency with BIAB. See photo.

The size and the way they are mounted. Corona works really well for grinding but it is not really meant for big milling works as it is and people usually mod it, build a mounting system so it can mill directly into buckets instead of small bowl at the time and so on. Also the way it grinds is...

1 week into first Cyser, Panicked, is it salvageable?

Yoyr cyser has a lot of alcohol so I doubt anything bad is going to infect it, except aceto bacteria that may start to turn alcohol into vinegar. How much headspace did your carboy have when you shook it?

anyone have a good corona clone recipe

And usually quite lightly hopped. Hence my comparison to Mexican style "Corona clone" lager recipes.

anyone have a good corona clone recipe

No I think that is Steam Ale. Ales done with lager yeast but fermented at room temp.

anyone have a good corona clone recipe

I have to bump this again because I just read the whole thread because I was also curious if I can also make a Corona style beer, all grain. I love British and German beers but I also love Corona with a lime on a hot day. It is my "lawnmower" thirst quencher of choice, much better than BMC (or...

    Dry Hopping Advice

I have always used hop bags with my dry hops and no marbles or bolts to weight it down and I personally never noticed any loss of flavor or anything. Just 30g of Citra still makes any brew a fruit punch. But then again Citra is incredibly powerful dry hopping hop, maybe some gentler hop has...

    How to fix yeast overflow

I just had to make sure because the condom looked so blown out. :D
