Looks pretty sweet Jerico. I'm in the process of building my own wood stand which is fairly similar to yours. I like the dual purpose tile action on the top, good call. We'll have to compare notes once I get a little further in.
Just got my regulator, the brass fittings and my tubing in. Final pieces left are the camlocks and the IC kit i bought from CopperTubingSales. which should be here on Thursday. It's going to be a busy couple weekends building.
My SS front load chugger and three 6in banjo burners from Agrisupply. Expecting the rest of the plumbing later this week then the fun of puttin my stand together really begins.
That all depends on how much you value convenience. I myself would rather bring my phone into my brewery than my laptop. You get the same functionality either way.
Welcome back to the party KPaul. Your chest freezer will become your best friend over the next few scorching months. I bought one immediately after my first brew and have never looked back. Even during our mild winter, it helped keep my temps even.
I do believe you can create a profile in the app however it is obviously easier to sync it from the desktop. I was searching the beersmith site and came across this training video on how to create the equipment profile within than app...
Hey Funkerama, welcome to the site. The people here are extremely helpful and for the most part knowledgable, can't believe everything you read, haha. Overall ice been happy I joined and it's been immensely helpful in my brewing adventures.
Hey Chris, welcome to the fun. Where about a in Tampa are you located? I'm in south pasco. I can't say I'm an expert by any means as I'm still in the middle of learning myself but I can tell you what I've learned so far. I'm not so worried about watering my plants too much. I tried to keep...
Well I gave them a whole month to come back and no activity. I sliced the bines off all three of the plants on Saturday and already see new bines on all of them this morning. I'm going to up the fertilizer regime to once every three weeks vs the four I was doing before. I've also added a new...
Agree, if you put them outside too early you may even shock the plant and cause it to stop growing and just stall out. The solution to a stalled plant is the also the same too, cut off the bines and start over.
I'm sorry to tell you that your microbiology professor lied to you. Yes, boiling water will kill bacteria, but it is not enough for some fungal growth. Being sterile is killing 100% of all organic material and leaving fungal growth behind is not killing 100%. There are several baddies that...
Your not actually sterilizing with the boil, there are still something's that could survive the boil however the overwhelming majority will be killed by it. Whats left over would be overtaken by the yeast growth (if your cool side process is clean). It's important to note the wort is not...
I say go for it. I can't speak to whether you'll be successful or not but I've found that these plants are pretty hardy. Within a few weeks one of mine was already almost 8 feet, they will surprise you. Plant then where they will get the most sun possible and then wait and see. Do be aware...
The stainless wire would be a bad idea. The bines essentially have small hooks that they use to climb with and the stainless would allow them any way to sink in. You would be better just getting a large reel of twine or even a thicker rope. Just my 0.02.
That all depends on where your located. My plants are in a similar location (at least they were till I started getting my house worked on...story for another day) however the climate in florida really dictates that for me. If I had full sun all day throughout the summer, the plants would fry.
Another option would be to add a recirculating arm to your immersion chiller and whirlpool that way. It would help you cool quicker and create a little hop cone in the middle at the same time. Instead of adding another port will all the hardware and drilling, it's just 12in of copper bent to...
