Newbie mistake - a head slapping moment

I'm fairly certain that is exactly where the leak sprang from. It's a sucky mistake but one that is forever engrained in my skull now. When I first noticed it, I yelled out "no!"... Apparently it was so bad that my wife came running into the garage thinking I was dying, lol.

Newbie mistake - a head slapping moment

In my haste to get my new kegging system up and running I didn't quite do my homework on what to do/not do. I cleaned everything, loaded the keg and tried to burst carb. Everything seemed great last night, I got enough carbonation to make me feel like I knew what I was doing. I put everything...

Best Deal on a Keezer Setup?

Make sure to post pics of your keezer, there is too much build up here not to see the end result, haha. Good luck on the project.

Best Deal on a Keezer Setup?

Can't speak from experience as I've only had my first keg setup for about 2 hours but I've read you want to start with about 11-12 ft per line and trim down as needed to balance your system. I upgraded my beer lines to 15ft for that very reason and from the initial draw I haven't had any issues...

    Barrel Porn

Yep that did it, now I need a towel.

Best Deal on a Keezer Setup?

I did a little research on the 575 and while not many seem to hate them, most agree they aren't worth the upgrade and can cause just as many issues as they help fix. By opening a 525 slowly you essentially do the same thing that the 575 with a back push. The faucet causes more turbulence...

Best Deal on a Keezer Setup?

I'm in almost the exact same boat right now. I just finished getting all my starting basics and once I get used to kegging 1 I'll move up to multiple and build out my keezer. What I've found is getting everything all up front from kegconnections is by far the cheapest but if your like me...

    Keezer surrounded by built-in shelving

That looks awesome, I'm over ruling the wife, this is the direction I'm going.... And it's definitely beginner possible. Just have to take my time and measure twice, haha. Thanks for the suggestion Fuzze

Going rate for 5 gallon kegs

I saw that but the modified pick-up made me think twice. For the $10 discount off the going rate id rather go retail and unmodified.

Going rate for 5 gallon kegs

I've actually contacted them in the last couple days and they are actually sold out of ball locks. They have some pins converted to balls but no actual balls. I was told they expect more in December but till then it's only pins/pin-converts

    Keezer surrounded by built-in shelving

All I can say is wow. Your build is awesome Howie. Hats off to you sir. That direction might be something I have to consider. It's more than I was originally thinking but I kinda dig the challenge of it ...not to mention the end product. Ok, the wheels are a turning.

    Keezer surrounded by built-in shelving

Wow that looks really nice Dcbc. I was really trying to lean towards a keezer style mainly for the number of taps that you could expand to but that's an option. I'll throw it by the boss and see what she says.

    Keezer surrounded by built-in shelving

So project averted, turns out the wife doesn't like towers on keepers...not the whole keezer. Not really sure why but I'll take the good with the bad. My project just got a lot easier. Now to find some kegs and I'll be on my way.

Going rate for 5 gallon kegs

Thanks, I'll just have to keep looking and be patient

Going rate for 5 gallon kegs

Where are you finding them for that? I've been searching lately and all I find around is 60-70.

Start a Brew Rig on a Budget

Start with fermentation control and then full boil volumes. Get a chest freezer and a 15g pot. I'd then look to a chiller of some sort, quickly cooling wort would be your next best direction. I'd recommend listing to the Brew Strong podcast on equipment, they did a very good "what order...

    Keezer surrounded by built-in shelving

I was thinking about the depth issue, I do see some shelving with bump outs but more than likely not as big as a chest freezer. I'm thinking entertainment centerline of bump out. That's something I'll have to think about. Getting it in and out. I want to have a shelf going across the top, I...

    Keezer surrounded by built-in shelving

So long story short I've been given the go ahead to begin building a keezer, the one catch is the wife doesn't like the way they look. No matter how any awesome builds I show her the answer is still "I don't like it". Her compromise was to build the whole thing into a wall shelving unit and...
