    Keg use - Fermenter etc.

Wow those are awesome! I had been throwing around the same idea in my head. These seem to be exactly what I would like to do. Probably could pressurize too much but you could probably still pressure transfer and hold the closed system thought process. I like it. Sent from my iPhone using...

    Florida Hops experiment

I'm hoping to install a couple of i hooks into my eves on the side of my house and have them grow up there instead of the ugly makeshift trellis thing I did last year. That will also give my indirect light in the morning and direct light in the evening hopefully saving them from frying this...

    Florida Hops experiment

Mine was a fun project but the yield was horrible. I have three plants (centennial, galena & Willamette) which all needed to be harvested really early in the season due to browning. The galena produced about 1.5 ounces dried but did end with a decent alpha content (I used it in a recent brew...

    Temp Sensor in Orange Cooler?

Another option would be to put the thermometer in line with your tubing so that it will take a reading while recirculating. Think about putting a T fitting coming out of your valve with a thermowell or compression fitting holding the thermometer. Of course this only works while recirculating...

    Sweet Stout Deception Cream Stout

Try a taking a small sample out and drop in a packet of s05 at room temp and see what happens. If it doesn't budge a room temp it isn't going anywhere. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Creme Brulee Stout

I noticed the same thing with mine however I added a little too much water so I assumed that was the reason. The top layer seemed to be a nice dark red almost black but under that was a chaulky white grit. The final beer turned out pretty good. Not much body as I would have hoped and the...

20 lb of sugar and a jar of yeast nutrient

That's what I used the last time I made a batch and it worked fine.

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Creme Brulee Stout

My initial start was ST CB but like you I planned on changing it a little. I used all British malt and added a little carafa 2 to darken it. My hope is to get more of a biscuity chocolate taste, think vanilla ice cream sandwich. I caramelized the lactose last night, I added 1 cup to two...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Creme Brulee Stout

Generally I assume most people mean beer into the fermentor. It very well could be beer into the keg/bottling bucket but most people only have about a half gallon or less of loss between fermentor and keg so worst case scenario your only off by a small amount if you choose fermentor.

    Camlock QD Silicone O ring

The paint can remover works wonders, easiest way I have tried.

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Creme Brulee Stout

I had a very similar thought, use Southern Tier Creme Brûlée as a base but take it a little further, I used less dark malt and more C60/120 but the thought process was the same. While brewing I got distracted and forgot to add the lactose which I had planned on adding to the boil. I'm going to...

    Brew Stand Fails!

I had decided flare fittings would be easier to do than sweating copper... I was wrong. I was creating the manifold for the propane out of copper and hadn't sweated copper yet and I seems harder than it actually is. I bought all the fittings, came up with a design that worked and grabbed a...

    iPhone App

The tapatalk app seems to work pretty well. Not sure if they are moving to this product or whether it's just another option.

    Tube & Shell Heat Exchanger

So I absolutely did not need another project to start but this has got my attention peaked. Great job so far, I might have to borrow from the concept and start my own. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

    Yep, I'm jealous... It worked.

Going rate for 5 gallon kegs

William's Brewing has a deal for Black Friday that if you spend $175 you get a free used (pressure tested) ball lock. So spend 178 on three used ball locks and get the fourth free. Shipping was 9.99 for me so my whole order came to 188, that's about 47 per keg. Much cheaper than the 70 I'm...
