Need advice putting together a clone recipe after advice from the brewery themselves

I was trying to do a similar thing with 4 Pines Pale recently, and you're right that it seems to push the base grain down to an uncomfortably low level *unless* they're using something like Midnight Wheat. If they do, then a 5G batch with 7.50lb Maris Otter (85%) 0.45lb UK Crystal 40 (5%)...

    what malt for dark(ish) SMaSH?

If you're primarily looking to simplify your first brewing experience I'm not sure that SMaSH is the direction I'd take. In BIAB mixed grain bills are (by and large) treated just like a single grain - milled, mashed, and maybe sparged. Similarly, brewday complexity in hopping is much more...

    Craft Beer MAW(Easy Version)

Dang ... no love in New England. So how about taking the list as thematic rather than specific? Your favorite APA/IPA/DIPAs that I wouldn't see in California.

    Van Morrison!

Riding my motorbike into Siena at sunset with Van Morrison playing on the headset is one of those memories of a lifetime.

Needing HOPS Feedback from you guys.

Another vote for 8oz over 1lb at the same price per oz. In terms of the source, that has to be balanced against price and freshness; all things being equal I'd take EKG over any others, but all things are almost never equal.

Imperial Stout Russian Imperial Stout (2011 HBT Competition Category Winner)

Holy crap! Brewed this back in February, 6 weeks in primary, 7.5 months hidden away from me bulk-aging, and just now kegged to carb and then bottle for winter gifts. IT TASTES AMAZING!

    Craft Beer MAW(Easy Version)

I didn't take it as a-holery, just that I might have missed the thread culture for not having read it all. I lived in Vermont for a couple of years in the '90s (between London and Oakland) but haven't been back in waaaaay too long, and this seemed like a great opportunity to sample what's...

    Craft Beer MAW(Easy Version)

Have I committed some grave faux pas that I need to read 810 pages to uncover and understand?

    Craft Beer MAW(Easy Version)

Not the most original MAW, but I'm interested in any Pale Ales, IPAs or DIPAs from: - Alchemist - Hill Farmstead - Lawson’s Finest Liquids - Maine Beer - New England Brewing - Tree House - Trillium

    WTT: 20lb C02 tank for 5lb (Connecticut)

I managed to pick up a 20lb tank cheap on Craigslist and swap it for a 10lb and a 5lb at my gas supplier.

    Question for my California homebrewers

No-chill is great, though you need to have containers that can withstand both the heat of the boiling wort and the pressure developed when it cools (so not your regular brew bucket). These work well and I use them as fermentors too once the wort has cooled (though I'd love to find a 7G version...

    Trying to scale recipe

The one thing that doesn't scale is the starting volume - 2G & 6G - and the extra water (relatively) in the first case allows for more alpha acid isomerization.
