    Scheduling Help Needed Please...

I'd suggest getting some more bottles and get on that second batch. It won't hurt if you always have a surplus of bottles waiting for new beer.

    Hydrometers are cool

Curiosity got the best of me this morning. I'm working on a Bavarian Wheat extract kit. I haven't been seeing any activity, so I decided to take a hydrometer reading this morning, a messy task in itself for a noob. I figure I've got about 7 days left until bottling. The reading after temperature...

    Condensation in secondary

Probably a stupid question... I've got quite a bit of condensation at the top of my secondary fermentor (5 gallon carboy). My main concern is that air got in and is messing with my soon to be tasty beverage. Its been in the secondary for a couple days. Other than that, everything seems ok...

    Cracked Airlock

Is it ok if its that nasty Vanilla Stoli? Haha. I've got some leftover from a party that I've been waiting to be put to use. Not much of a fan myself, but if I can use it to save my beer, I'll appreciate it a lot more.

    Secondary Fermentation Questions

Thanks for all the help everyone. I'm guessing that I'll have a pretty good idea if I messed up. From what I hear, it will taste, look & smell pretty nasty of I made a bad batch.

    Cracked Airlock

So I'm trying not to panic since this is my first brew. I noticed a small crack in my airlock. It looks like its on the inside, so I don't think anything is leaking out. I am using a triple ripple airlock. All of the water is pushed to the opposite side of the crack. Any advice?

    Very dark Bavarian Hefeweisen

I used the same exact kit for my first batch over the weekend. I agree that it looks darker than expected, but I think its all relative. You're staring at a huge batch in a white bucket. Once its in the glass I don't think the color will look so drastic.

    My first time freakout post

I just brewed my first batch over the weekend, so I know how you're feeling. It seems like most of the yeast that comes in the kits just gets pitched beore you put the lid on your fermentor. I'm confident that you are fine, but I'm sure someone with a little more experience can confirm that.

    1-2-3

I brewed my first batch with a beer kit that came with a liquid malt extract. The instructions that came with the kit say to switch to the secondary fermenter after 3 days. This seems to go against the 1-2-3 method of letting it sit in the primary fermentor for a week. Will the time needed in...

    Secondary Fermentation Questions

Thanks for your help. I will plan on moving from the primary to the secondary in a week and bottling 2 weeks after that. If only I could drink it now!!!

    Secondary Fermentation Questions

Is it ok to bottle right from the primary fermentor since this doubles as the bottling bucket?

    Secondary Fermentation Questions

I purchased a home brew kit over the weekend that consisted of a plastic fermentation bucket and a glass carboy. The fermentation bucket also doubles as a bottling bucket since it has a spigot on the bottom. My girlfriend and I brewed our first batch (Bavarian Wheat) yesterday, using a...
