She filled it immediately. It didn't dry. I just have high hopes for this batch. Don't wanna see it ruined.

    Sorry guys I'm neurotic...

Wife and I wanted to look at our RIS 2 weeks fermenting. Took the lid off and looked fine. Though a couple of drops less than half a teaspoon of water dropper from the airlock into the primary. Should I be nervous the batch will get infected? :(

How long should I leave Russian Imperial Stout in primary fermenter

Ahhh Alright. I guess I'll be buying two more fermenting buckets then!

How long should I leave Russian Imperial Stout in primary fermenter

Gotcha. Man should I pick up a second fermenting bucket? My girl is gonna wanna brew a heffeweizen style brew soon. I'm into the heavier ABV/IBU thicker brews, she likes summer style ales and belgian white ales.

How long should I leave Russian Imperial Stout in primary fermenter

Good to note. We are thinking this should be around 8%. It boiled over a bit, when we added the first bag of hops (dry hop pellets). I'm hoping I didn't loose too much bitterness or IBUs...

How long should I leave Russian Imperial Stout in primary fermenter

Good to note. Will this taste more along the lines of a guinness then? Will it have that nice thick stout flavor Still with that OG?

How long should I leave Russian Imperial Stout in primary fermenter

For reference, In the directions, the target OG was 1.076-1.080. Ours clocked in at 1.078 OG

How long should I leave Russian Imperial Stout in primary fermenter

Thanks to EVERYONE!!! This beer used Liquid malt extracts, and dry malt extract. So I'm guessing this is an extract brew correct? When I started the OG was spot on. So I don't need to worry about taking a FG reading yet? When should I take a FG reading? around week 3? Also, so let me get...

How long should I leave Russian Imperial Stout in primary fermenter

Hey guys, I bought and brewed a batch of Russian Imperial Stout from Brewers Best last monday, it went into the fermenter. Now the instructions say to let it ferment for 4-6 days and when there's been no bubbling in the air lock for 48 hours, bottle it. I've heard from people here, that...

    Noobie question regarding airlock

Good to know. I used wyeast and its a Russian imperial stout. I think I'll let it ferment for 2 weeks, then leave in bottle for two. Hopefully tastes great.

    Noobie question regarding airlock

Hey guys the airlock only bubbles for 3 days. An it only bubbled 1 day after the krausen seeped into the airlock ad seeped into the lid. We cleaned sanitized an put the airlock back in. Is it normal to only bubble in the airlock for 3 days? Should I be worried?

    Noobie question regarding airlock

Well apparently she washed her hands, cleaned the airlock, resanitized it, and inserted it back into the grommet. I hope this doesn't hurt the batch. I have high hopes for this one (even though I had a small boil over when the first batch of hops was being dumped in, and I hope the IBU's didn't...

    Noobie question regarding airlock

So I can just leave it with the krausen? What benefit does using vodka and starsan give the airlock?

    Noobie question regarding airlock

Ok, this makes me feel a little better. I've heard of people leaving Vodka in the airlock instead of water. If I just let it bubble with the krausen, will the batch ferment and carbonate properly? Thanks again.

    Noobie question regarding airlock

Okay, I can look into that. I just asked the wife (she's at home with the baby, while I work) and she said it's bubbling away but no more leaking. Would it hurt the batch to leave as is?

    Noobie question regarding airlock

Would my syphon hose work? I just have a beginner brewers best kit... Would leaving the krausen in the airlock be harmful? I definitely don't want this batch to be messed up...

    Noobie question regarding airlock

Hey all, I am currently brewing a Russian Imperial Stout. I used a liquid belgian yeast made by WYEAST. After about 36 hours, I looked at the primary and the airlock that was filled with water, is now filled with what looks like the wort. Is this okay? I have everything sanitized and am...
