Wife and I wanted to look at our RIS 2 weeks fermenting. Took the lid off and looked fine. Though a couple of drops less than half a teaspoon of water dropper from the airlock into the primary. Should I be nervous the batch will get infected? :(

Gotcha. Man should I pick up a second fermenting bucket? My girl is gonna wanna brew a heffeweizen style brew soon. I'm into the heavier ABV/IBU thicker brews, she likes summer style ales and belgian white ales.

Good to note. We are thinking this should be around 8%. It boiled over a bit, when we added the first bag of hops (dry hop pellets). I'm hoping I didn't loose too much bitterness or IBUs...

Good to note. Will this taste more along the lines of a guinness then? Will it have that nice thick stout flavor Still with that OG?

For reference, In the directions, the target OG was 1.076-1.080. Ours clocked in at 1.078 OG

Good to know. I used wyeast and its a Russian imperial stout. I think I'll let it ferment for 2 weeks, then leave in bottle for two. Hopefully tastes great.

Hey guys the airlock only bubbles for 3 days. An it only bubbled 1 day after the krausen seeped into the airlock ad seeped into the lid. We cleaned sanitized an put the airlock back in. Is it normal to only bubble in the airlock for 3 days? Should I be worried?

Well apparently she washed her hands, cleaned the airlock, resanitized it, and inserted it back into the grommet. I hope this doesn't hurt the batch. I have high hopes for this one (even though I had a small boil over when the first batch of hops was being dumped in, and I hope the IBU's didn't...

So I can just leave it with the krausen? What benefit does using vodka and starsan give the airlock?

Ok, this makes me feel a little better. I've heard of people leaving Vodka in the airlock instead of water. If I just let it bubble with the krausen, will the batch ferment and carbonate properly? Thanks again.

Okay, I can look into that. I just asked the wife (she's at home with the baby, while I work) and she said it's bubbling away but no more leaking. Would it hurt the batch to leave as is?

Would my syphon hose work? I just have a beginner brewers best kit... Would leaving the krausen in the airlock be harmful? I definitely don't want this batch to be messed up...
