yeah i agree with all passedpawn had to say. i'd suggest going the same route, build your MLT. for now, with your 5 gallon pot, you could always pick up a 3g better bottle or two and crank out a few 2.5g AG batches to hone the process.

plugged it into brewpal on my iphone, and got 53IBU for what it's worth. anyone know why there's such a discrepancy between the brewpal and beersmith estimates? beersmith guys, did you adjust the volume to 4.25g? also, OP, are we talking pellets or whole hops?

that said, the DC-area craigslist has brought me a few great bargains, especially with bottles (can we say 150 for $15? yes we can) don't like the idea that i've got some competition in the form of DC craigslist hunters, grrr :-P
