Counter Pressure Bottle Filler Missing a part???

Here's a pic of the disassembled valve. I'm guessing you're missing the little piston piece with the o-ring. I'd call morebeer and see if they have any spares. Worst case you can buy a new valve, https://www.morebeer.com/products/stainless-gas-pressure-relief.html

    First Sour

Almost. That means there were at least two tables judging. During the initial judging, the judges will fill out the scoresheets and that's where your scores come from. Each table will then select their top beers to advance to the mini-BOS where they compete head to head. In the mini-BOS...

    Shipping to competition

Yeah, it got billed to my card the day after it was delivered. I actually reported it as fraud to my credit card company because I thought someone had stolen my credit card. They got info from FedEx showing it was a valid charge and indicating they'd applied dimensional weight. I...

    Shipping to competition

Yeah, I've noticed it seems to really depend on the person you're handing the package to. I'd do as you're planning and either just address it to the c/o name or abbreviate the comp name to MHBC. Then if they ask, artisanal vinegar, marinade, and BBQ sauce has worked for me. What's really...

    Valve no leakie

I'm a fan of The Electric Brewery style setup which is basically the Blichmann style, http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/hot-liquor-tank?page=4 That said, BrewHardware.com has some really nice purpose-built bulkheads, http://www.brewhardware.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=bulkhead

Hill Farmstead Yeast, use or dump?

So I have to admit, I don't know much about Hill Farmstead's farmhouse culture since unfortunately it doesn't really make its way out to Utah, but it sounds like it could very likely contain brett and some wild bugs like lactobacillus. Brett can produce acetic acid when there's an ample supply...

    Intertap beer faucets

I've been kind of casually following this thread for a while, but I'm getting more interested in the FC models, especially since it seems a lot of people are reporting positive results with them. I recently stumbled across some brand new Taprite secondary regulators and I managed to get them...

    Consecration Russian River Clone question

Fruit can mold in the fermenter when it's floating on top which is why wineries and increasingly breweries perform punch downs on the fruit. It could be mold, could be a pellicle, could just be yeast...a picture would help.

    Keggle questions

Mine are all weldless. The sight glass is from Brew Hardware and I did a homemade heat shield. Pickup tube and whirlpool ports are at 6 o'clock, sight glass and thermometer are at 3 o'clock.

    Looking for Clone recipes

It never hurts to email the breweries and ask. Quite a few of them are willing to share recipes with homebrewers. Don't expect exact measurements, usually they'll tell you x percent pale malt, x percent carapils, and so on. As long as they're willing to share the percentages and the target...

    Keggle questions

For your ball valve and sight glass, I'd go as low as possible. This will ensure you can read low volumes (it'll still probably start around 3-4 gallons). I have my weldless fittings right about 4" measured from the bottom of the lower skirt. For the thermometer, I'd probably try to...

They kind of look like a type A connector. https://www.kegworks.com/blog/keg-coupler-list/

False bottom for aging with fruit in a corny

Without something to contain the fruit, it'll be a nightmare. You could use something like the screen-canister dry hoppers that are around now or maybe a paint strainer bag...but as you indicated, volume is going to be an issue. I think the better option is to get an extra fermenter (e.g...

    Starsan and silicone hose?

One thing that is hard on silicone...putting it in a pot of boiling water to sanitize it because you used it to transfer a sour beer...and then leaving your house to run errands while forgetting you left the hose in the boiling water...then all the water boils off. That is definitely hard on...

    Starsan and silicone hose?

I've never heard of problems with silicone but I have heard of problems with regular vinyl tubing.

    Yeast still good to use?

Heat is the enemy in this case. If it sat in the back of a hot truck, and/or in your mailbox for a long time, it could be compromised. I usually get my yeast from my LHBS, but if I do order online, I usually only do it during cooler months. So as to whether or not it might be a problem, it...

    Fermentation stall?

Awesome that you hit your target gravity, but to rlmiller10's point, that definitely is not a double IPA. An OG of 1.046 isn't even within the low range for an English IPA or an American IPA. Gravity-wise that would be more along the lines of an English Bitter or an American Pale.

Jim asks "Is It Last Call for Craft Beer? "

The link above didn't work for me, but the following one should. Interesting read. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/07/opinion/is-it-last-call-for-craft-beer.html?_r=0
