trying to achieve a cheap CO2 storage system

In the article, “CO2 capture starts when O2 reaches 0.6%,” that’s 6 parts per thousand. O2 in the final product is 6 parts per billion, and the bulk CO2 they use measures 20 parts her billion. In terms of removing O2, looks like there’s still a long way to go from capture to packaging. From the...

trying to achieve a cheap CO2 storage system

Reading some articles about brewery scale co2 capture like: CO2 Recovery System Saves Brewers Money, Puts Bubbles into Beer | NASA Spinoff They do mention scrubbing, drying, and/or using desiccants to get any contaminants and moisture out of the final product which seems like a good idea...

trying to achieve a cheap CO2 storage system

Have the bag under a platform that has guides at the corners so the platform rides evenly up and down. Have the platform trigger switches at the min and max height.

trying to achieve a cheap CO2 storage system

Definitely was a question, as I am no materials engineer. Was thinking of an oil of some sort… certainly a can of worms!

trying to achieve a cheap CO2 storage system

I'll bite, this is interesting! How about submerging your bag in a container filled with some sort of fluid? Choose the right bag material and fluid to solve for O2 permeability (any good ideas here?). As the bag inflates, it will displace the fluid, and you can use a float switch or level...

    Cooling coil for 15gal fermenter?

Thanks. Good to hear. I’ve been looking at the coils across the various vendors. They all seem to be roughly similar for 5-10 gallon sizes, which is comforting.

    Cooling coil for 15gal fermenter?

Hi All, Got my A/C glycol chiller setup and running nicely. Been comparing the different options for cooling my fermenter... I did a little experiment by wrapping my 15 gallon conical with 50ft of 1/2 inch DD 3/8 inch ID vinyl tubing -- Which would probably work just fine for me holding ale...

    Random Drunken Thoughts Thread

In the theme of drunkenness, grain mills, and ugly junk… what — if instead of a drill — a person went used bike and pedal power Flintsones style? Would make a nice yard sculpture!

Injector for adding small amounts of liquid to unitank under pressure?

Something like the keg land carbonation tee and caps would work with a 12oz bottle or even one of the old while labs vials, if you have one. Add the biofine to the bottle, and purge with co2. Flood the bottle with your beer, then shoot it back into the fermenter with higher pressure.

Glycol Chiller Build / Single Pump Design

Yeah is all seems like 6 of one and half a dozen of another at a homebrew scale. Starts and stops cause wear and tear on the pump, but so will running it all the time. It’s dead simple to just plug in the pump as always on, but definitely not as cool, or fun. I have longer lines that I want to...

Glycol Chiller Build / Single Pump Design

Your diagram depicts two switches wired in parallel, which is fine for this application. The pump will get power when one or both of the switches are on. I’m thinking about doing similar. Depending on your needs, you may also want a third switch that triggers on a timer so that there is a...

"Rust" inside TC racking arm tube

FYI—Contacted Spike about their arm, customer service replied that it looks good to them and I should have no problems using it.

"Rust" inside TC racking arm tube

Thanks, @Bobby_M for the explanation. Makes sense, and good to know its a manufacturing process related issue. Would you see any issues using these in a fermenter? And/or, is there anything I can do treat the sugaring and get them usable? I'd rather not junk them if I don't have to.

"Rust" inside TC racking arm tube

Thanks, I probably would not have come up with that on my own. Nice simple solution, at least for now. I am guessing the machine marks and roughness of the tubing are a place to harbor nasties, just like scratches on plastic… the inside should be polished smooth right? I’ll say the marks show...

"Rust" inside TC racking arm tube

I'll go ahead and inquire with the sellers and see what they have to say. Any thoughts on actually being able to fix and use these items in my fermenters? I get they may not be of spectacular quality, but they are what I have on-hand, and there is beer to brew.
