How long can mead sit on vanilla beans in secondary?

Would Oak chips and Vanilla beans compete or compliment each other?

    Oak chips

The link above was actually for beer but I followed the instructions anyway for 1/2 oz for 5 gal. ..... but it also says to only leave the chips in for 1 week. Do I need to rack off from the chips after only 1 week? Or can it set longer?

    What gets ready fast?

Beer is all well and good ... but I like wine!:cross: SWMBO is a bit territorial about her beer also ... :o I guess I will try a JAOM.

    What gets ready fast?

I would go the cheap wine route, but I am the first in my circle of acquaintances to try making their own wine and they are getting very eager to see what the end product tastes like. I kinda stoked the curiosity by brewing a batch of gluten-free homebrew and they *really* liked that ... even...

    What gets ready fast?

I have 4 carboys currently "in progress" and do not wish to rush *them* ... so I am looking for something to drink in the interim. I had read alot of good reviews about the various JAOM recipes as well as the cysers, so I figured they would be a good choice to help give the rest time to age ....

    What gets ready fast?

My friends are beginning to eye my fermenting/aging stock with curiosity and maybe a tad impatience .... they want to sample something and I know what I have will not be ready for quite some time. So, I may have to one of the quicker recipes to give them (and my wife and I) something to enjoy...

    Oak chips

I have a mead in a 6 gallon carboy that I had started back in July. Is it too late to add oak chips? If not, how much for a 6 gallon carboy and what is the best method to employ them ... just dump them in? Fermentation finished on this some time ago .... I am just letting it age and letting...

Can anyone describe the tast of a GF beer?

My wife also like Green's .... but, as you have pointed out, the price is way too high for it to ever be anything more than an occasional "treat".

to shake or not to shake

If you are using a Better Bottle carboy, I saw a video online about the best way to swirl one .... You place a ball in the recess under the carboy and then simply "roll" the carboy in a rotating fashion on the ball. It was all pretty slick ....... "Swirling the contents of a Better-Bottle...

Are there any certified gluten-free yeasts for wine making?

Thanks!! This certainly gives me a direction to turn when getting yeast for my wines !!!!

Are there any certified gluten-free yeasts for wine making?

My wife is celiac and it never occurred to me until I saw it mentioned in these forums that yeast may not be gluten-free. Does any one know of any yeasts for wine making that are gluten-free? I know that Wyeast has a couple for beers but they did not have any mention of any for wines.

    My first batch ....

I am gonna try leaving my next batch in the secondary alot longer ..... I am hoping to learn more about using clarifying agents as well - like I keep hearing about adding some sort of gelatin to help clear it up.
