    I was just wondering if any of you just plop your hygrometer in the carboy so that you can check the gravity without having to pop the carboy open and get a sample. Would this affect the fermentation process at all?

    yeah i saw the thicker one, its like $20 more. Its a 13lb pot instead of a 9lb pot. You guys think I should go with that instead? What are the benefits of a thicker pot besides durability?
