    Water

I have also noticed that if I Want my keg to be closer to the top I have to top of just a tad above 5 gallons because there is always the slight loss to the trub. I also just got whirlfloc to try out and I will see how much less trub I get, which may help you get closer to a total of 5 gallons.

    Swmbo

My fiancée is not a beer person per se. She likes certain beers and she loves the smell of beer. She isn't a fan of how brew day smells and how it lingers but I love it so it is what it is. Luckily she supports my hobby because I enjoy it so much. She listens to me babble but I have cut back on...

    Caribou Slobber

I agree this kit was great and I didn't modify anything. I may have split up the lme addition but I can't exactly remember. This beer is one of my favorites so far and I will definitely be brewing it again soon.

Simple Rules for Drinking My Homebrew

Yeah I agree with all of this and understand! I hate when people want a big glass but then only drink a little bit and then the beer gets warm and it gets wasted.

    American Cream Ale Kit question

Good to hear! Oh and welcome to Home Brew Talk : )

    American Cream Ale Kit question

Oh right sorry didn't answer part of the question. Just as yooper said it shouldn't really affect taste. I haven't noticed a big taste difference between splitting up the lime into two additions but there may be a slight difference. Biggest difference I see is color/appearance.

    American Cream Ale Kit question

I just did a cream ale and to reduce the caramelization I added half of the lime and the beginning of the boil and half 15 minutes before flame out. Also letting it sit will also help the color. When I transferred it, it was light brown but after letting it sit and filtering it, it is now a nice...

    Northern Brewer

I have also been very impressed with Northern Brewer's customer support. I bought a thermometer that went bad after a couple of brews and I wrote a review on their website. A day or so later I got an email with an apology that it broke and that they would be sending me another thermometer to my...

What I did for beer today

I filtered my Cream ale and kegged it. I also ordered a stir plate, 2000 ML starter, lager kit, and various other odds and ends.

How many primaries do you have?

I have 2 - 6.5 Gallon Primaries 1 - 6 gallon Primary 1 - 5 Gallon Secondary I also have 3 kegs but one is reserved for filtering and I still feel like I don't have enough in my pipeline but I suppose only having fridge space for 2 kegs is also limiting at this time.

    Kickstarter Beer Poster

I believe it is to help him raise enough funds that he can get them printed and he needs a demand and enough backing so that he can get them printed and sell them to people that have backed him. I will definitely be buying a medium size poster!

    Lager tasting ale

So just a quick question is it better to place a yeast it the middle of its temperature range? Or is the lower end of its range better for it all around? Sorry to semi thread jack this.

    Lager tasting ale

What about the California Wyeast that has a temp range of 58-68 Degrees? I enjoy lagers as well and I am planning to do a lager using this yeast at a temperature of around 68 or less.

    Northern Brewer Shipping

They recently said that there flat rate system was only on a few items and it was making order more complex so they got rid of their flat rate system but apparently they lowered prices to accommodate for the increase in shipping. I personally never got the cheap flat rate because my orders...

    A beer for her?

Oh and one other thing I think she likes dark beers but not really hopped up ones which is why I will probably also try some other stouts and breakfast stouts

    A beer for her?

Ha Ha I think she is just really really picky and has no idea what she actually likes... To answer your other comment about beauty products I get massive headaches when she uses nail polish so she actually has to paint her nails when I am not home otherwise I get a horrendous headache. I...

    A beer for her?

Hey thanks for all the ideas. I actually made caribou slobber and i just finished it off a few days ago. She kind of liked it but only had one or two beers I guess she didn't like the amount of hops but I thought it was quite excellent.
