Is it a bad thing if you don't match the OG that is listed in the recipe. I just did a milk stout and my reading was 1.054 and the list OG was 1.062. Is this bad, what could it be?

Well now I just have to wait until the 45 minute mark and that is my last hop to add.

Oh one more question. I have a lactose powder that is suppose to be added with the extract, do I add it to the extract then pour, pour the powder in at the same time as the extract, or do I have to boil it in water first?

Dude, I just did my first brew two weeks ago and bottled today. I tasted some of it and it was good. You will be fine man. Stick to your instructions man. You will be fine.
