    Storage of whole hops?

That was fast! But makes sense. Into the freezer they go.

    Storage of whole hops?

I've been taking advantage of MoreBeer's 12 Kits of Christmas, and ended up with a kit that includes whole hops, which I don't expect to brew right away. I normally store pellet hops in the freezer, but this is the first time I've dealt with whole. Should I do the same thing with them, or...

    Burned my last beer--why?

I haven't actually checked; I was just expecting I could. I'll have to check next time I brew.

    Burned my last beer--why?

I can't say for certain, of course, but I really don't think this is what happened--but it definitely points out the importance of not trying to recirculate over the top too quickly. And also of checking the level (my kettle has etched volume markings on the inside) to make sure it isn't...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

I'm running into kind of an odd issue, and not sure whether it belongs to Fermentrack or to BrewPi-ESP. I started a fresh batch of beer Friday afternoon, my first actual beer using Fermentrack (I'd tested it with water, but not with actual beer). It's in a Fermzilla Tri-Conical, cooling by way...

    Burned my last beer--why?

Took a second crack at this one today. Everything was as identical to last time as I could make it, except (1) bumped up the grain by about a pound to hit my target gravity, and (2) skipped the protein rest. No scorched smell or color, and came in just a touch higher on the OG than I'd...

How Many Gallons Brewed in 2023

    4188.5 + 5.5 gallons Belgian Quad = 4194. Didn't scorch it this time!

    Controlling a glycol chiller

...except that fails at the very reason I started this thread, which I stated in the OP: I want to be able to change the setpoint over time, automatically. The Inkbirds can't do that. They do what the devices built in to my chiller already do, which is to maintain a set temp.

Electric system with 10 gallon batches

I have one of these from brewhardware.com, with the 15-gallon kettle: https://www.brewhardware.com/product_p/biabpackagepremium.htm Works great for 5-gallon batches; for a 10-gallon batch of Märzen I needed about a gallon and a half of top-up water--the kettle wasn't quite big enough. But it...

    Controlling a glycol chiller

I've pretty well settled on Fermentrack/BrewPi-ESP for this--the ease of installing Fermentrack on Proxmox, the ability to handle more than one fermenter in a single interface, and the handy circuit Thorrak designed to control the chiller pumps with no modification at all to the chiller all...

    How do you buy grain?

Full sacks of a couple of base malts, with (most of) the rest being bought to planned recipes to the nearest pound. Milled just before brewing. Though with morebeer.com's current sale of 25% off all recipe kits, I just ordered a couple of them.

    Glycol Temps, whats yours?

Oh, and on the temp question, I'm set at -2C.

    Glycol Temps, whats yours?

I shut off my chiller when I'm not fermenting or planning to within the next day or two (i.e., if there's a day or two between batches, I'll leave it on). Haven't noticed any ill effects, but I've only had it since earlier this year.

Delta Brewing Free Shipping no Longer Applies to Grains

Indeed. I think it's a flat rate of $20 to ship, which probably isn't bad, but definitely not what it was.

Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

I got my first BrewPi-ESP controller put together this morning, complete with this optocoupler circuit. As expected after last week's testing, the ESP turns the chiller pump on and off as desired. I've set it up to run a beer profile in about 10 gal of water; I'll see how it goes over the next...

TiltBridge - Tilt-to-WiFi Device for Tilt Hydrometer

It seems I'm playing with all Thorrak's designs lately, but this one's almost anticlimactic. D32 Pro, TFT, and cable got here Tuesday, and a Tilt Pro today. Flashed the D32 using BrewFlasher Web, plugged in the TFT, and what do you know, it Just Worked™. Cool! Having a little trouble getting...

Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

Just as a thought, it'd greatly reduce the "trial and error" of assigning temp sensors if the page where you did that had a live readout of the readings for each sensor.
