    Is vorlauf necessary?

I don't usually bother. I do run it through a metal coffee filter though for the first few minutes so I guess I'm accomplishing the same thing.

Show Me Your Wood Brew Sculpture/Rig

It ain't much, but I finally built myself a brew cart. It is "upholstered" with a fire resistant tarp that I had stuffed in the shed. I have a few things left to do, but it came together just like I wanted it to.

    Correct glasses for styles

Hey y'all! I just got finished with this PDF this morning. I can't take credit for the content, but I will take credit for the format. This info came from Beer Advocate, I just compressed it and organized it so I could print it without taking up 13 pages. I hope it helps! Glasses for Beer

    First AND second big blunder

Took a picture today to show off the color and clarity. The glass got a little foggy on me while I was taking the picture, but I still think you can tell how clear it is. Ignore the dirty windows! My wife would be upset if she knew I posted dirty window pictures for the world to see!!! Hahaha!!!

    First AND second big blunder

Thanks! I'm pretty happy to be home. I can't wait to get a brew going. I've got all the ingredients I just haven't found time. I think maybe this weekend. I'm making a cream ale first. It'll be hot soon in SoCal and I'd like to have a nice "lawn mower" beer.

    First AND second big blunder

Hey all! Sorry I'm reviving a long dead post, but I just got back from Afghanistan and wanted to give an update on this barley wine. It has been in the freezer for 7 months at about 48F so I figure it is probably plenty well aged. After adding the late DME and all the rushing around I did...

    Hatchet Job labels

I was thinking the same thing about the colors. I'll see what I can do. The oval seems like it needs to stand out just a little more. Thanks!

    Hatchet Job labels

Well a few slight changes to clean up some of the edges and what-not. Anyone have any other suggestions? Again, I really appreciate all the help. I didn't realize out "off" the last 2 attempts were until someone pointed it out.

    Hatchet Job labels

Ok so I completely scrapped the last few designs. I've been reworking this one, but it is still in draft. The red "banner" at the bottom is where I'll write the beer name. The rest is pretty self explanatory. I like this one better. What do y'all think?

    Hatchet Job labels

I'll give that a try. I agree it looks a little off just sitting on there, I just haven't been able to decide what I want to do with it. I was just trying to "preserve" the logo. I'll keep messing with it. I appreciate all your help. Keep the suggestions coming please! Just remember that...

    Hatchet Job labels

What if I made the hatchet black and white....?

    Hatchet Job labels

So I finally got around to making some changes to my label. I like it better than the last one. I can't decide if it's the one I want to go with or not, however. Where "Lopsided IPA" is written, I will print that as a blank spot and just write in the name and style of the beer like on the...

    Hatchet Job labels

Yes I am stuck out at the stumps. I should be getting out of there in the next 6 months however. Nooner, the blank space above the hop is where plan on writing the name and style. Do you think I should just get rid of the background altogether? Maybe go to just a plain solid color or...

    Hatchet Job labels

Hmmm.... I see what you mean. I just couldn't put my finger on what was bothering me about it. Wolfhound is correct, I am just trying to make a universal label that I can just slap on a bottle and write on it. I'm deployed right now, so it's a little difficult to get my hands on a hatchet...

    Hatchet Job labels

Man either this thing is really awesome and nobody can think of anything to change or it is really terrible and nobody has the heart to tell me! :-D I hope it's the former!

    Plate chiller without pump

I use mine without a pump, but it is a pain. It takes longer than it should and it's always a little precarious trying to move the hot kettle high enough to get a good flow.

    Hatchet Job labels

Hey everyone! I was hoping you could critique my label for me. I'm trying to have something semi-generic so I can just write what beer it is and the pertinent information. It's sort of my first go at a label, but I'm open to all suggestions. Oh, I'm planning for this to be a 3hx4w label fyi...

    Deployed and miss brewing

Ya know... I'm not sure exactly what I want to do. I know I want to build some sort of single teir system with a pump or 2 running off propane (for now). I think I want to avoid having to buy a bunch of new equipment. My orange cooler and Bayou Classic SS pot work just fine. I don't know...
