    Bulging bottle

    Well it's done. I opened it and there was a small phhhhhtt. Cooled it for a while in the fridge along with a pilsner glass. Poured it into the chilled pilsner and enjoyed a flat homebrew.

    I bottled my brew on last Thursday. As a gauge I put 12 ounces into a 16 ounce Poland Spring water bottle. I squeezed all the air out until the ale was right up to the top and capped it. Over the past few days the bottle as expected "re-inflated" to the point where the bottom is bulging out...

    Bottle condition with dry ice

    Has anybody ever tried bottle conditioning with dry ice? How much would you use? I figure just a sliver. Just think, it would carbonate and chill it at the same time.:mug:

    Hop vine die off

    Well like I said yesterday the hops were tuning yellow. Today when I got home they looked like they were turning brown. I picked 125 hops and I am drying them right now. They swell a little "grassy" when you sniff them up close but when I open the petals and rub the yellow stuff it smells hoppy.

    The leaves are dry and the hops look like they are turning yellow. Can they be saved? The drying starts half way up the plant. The bottom half is fine. The vine isn't cut or otherwise injured.

    I went away for a week and had a friend water my hops. This is the first year for these cascade hops and they are in large planters. The vine with about three dozen hops on it looks like it is dying off. I don't think the hops are ready yet because they still feel damp and springy. Is the die...
