Why do I continue to have inconsistent carbonation?

Try the carb drops then. That sounds strange. Or maybe give them more time...

Why do I continue to have inconsistent carbonation?

Get a bottling bucket. Pour the dissolved sugar on the bottom, rack the beer on it and then bottle. That's how I do it and haven't had a problem.

    48 qt mash tun

48 qt cooler with a copper manifold. Needs a valve. Needs something heavy on top when mashing as it leaks a little steam from the back corners and you lose a few degrees when mashing. With a proper weigh though it works well. FREE!!! Would like to help a brewer who is just moving to all grain...

Question on fermentation of first brew

Yup. Skip the transfer. Leave it in primary 3-4 weeks even if there's no activity. The yeast is still working. Take a reading when you're ready to bottle. Every time you open your carboy and especially taking a reading you introduce bacteria and a chance to at least get off flavors. Get yourself...

Question on fermentation of first brew

In the future, preboil your water before topping off. Rehydrate your dry yeast before pitching. Use GoFerm when you do. Get a 6.5 gal carboy and ferment in it for 3-4 weeks without transfering to secondary. Secondary is outdated. Take a gravity reading around the 3rd week. Don't worry if you...

Large dead space under false bottom

Just got a 40 qt pot with a false bottom and having the same 2 gal space problem. Was wondering if I could just get some river rocks and fill up about an inch under the false bottom. Don't want to modify the bottom. That should bring the dead space to about 1 gal. Found those stones on ebay...

120 Volt Stovetop Steel 5 gal Electric Brew Kettle with a Bazooka for pellets

Good question. I live in a newer construction and I have two GFCI 20Amp outlets on two separate circuits in my kitchen. I did the research on that. I was aiming at a 2000W element initially which even costs less. I read in a thread here somewhere that it will go just a little over and will cause...
