    All Hop Shot IPA

I was given a syringe of Cascade Hop Extract from a member of my local Brew Club. I've been doing some research on how to utilize it and have decided that I might as well try an all Hop Shot ale. For the amount i have it looks like an IPA is appropriate, Here is what I am thinking. 10 lbs...

Recipe Review: Deschutes River Ale Clone

I had some other people try this over the weekend. When I try this one again I will likely mash a bit lower, probably like 150F, and i will likely double the hops to really get them to stand out against the higher alcohol content.

Recipe Review: Deschutes River Ale Clone

Pulled the first one this evening. Mine is on the right, Deschutes on the left. Color is there. Mine is a bit maltier, there's finishes a bit dryer. More of the hop flavor comes out in the real thing. My local brew club says if I start doing some water additions like adding gypsum I should be...

Perfect fan for stir plate build - with potentiometer - $5 shipped

What power supply are people using for their plates? I tried a 9 volt battery charger supply I had, it worked great, but after only a few minutes of use the brick got almost too hot to touch. I installed an old cell phone charger that my roommate had that was only 5.5 volts and it worked OK...

Recipe Review: Deschutes River Ale Clone

I am trying to formulate this recipe before I brew. Deschutes gives the list of ingredients here... http://www.deschutesbrewery.com/recipe/deschutes-river-ale ... but doesn't give the amounts or times. So here is what I have come up with. It has a bit higher OG: but I am ok with that. I am...

    NB Brickwarmer Holiday Red Ale

So we have just moved this to Secondary and we are thinking it could use a little more hop. IF we dry hop in the secondary for a few days what variety should we use?

What Temps are TOO Low to Ferment?

Ok, so what reading on a hydrometer should I be looking for if i never took the OG to determine finished fermentation?

What Temps are TOO Low to Ferment?

I am working on my first batch (an American Brown Ale) I have been keeping my fermentation at about 65 deg. F for the first week. Outside temperatures have dropped into the single digits and now I am struggling to keep it at about 60 deg. F. This is at the very low end of the temp. range that my...
