    The Home Made Pizza Thread

Pizza night last night with some recently kegged Red IPL (5.6%, motueka, Centennial, and galaxy). 70% H2O dough with 9hour rise, and one hour proof in smaller balls, but I think I kneaded it for a few too many minutes as it was a little tougher than others I’ve done at this hydration. Good...

Biab in my fermenter with a Brewjacket. 2 degree loss in one hour.

Haha! I live with my girlfriend, but she just rolls her eyes and makes a joke at my expense whenever I take the kitchen for a brew-day. I do all of the cooking so she tolerates my hobbies. [emoji23] I’ll probably try this again, as it wasn’t too bad. The alternative is to buy some reflective...

    I haven’t tested yet but that’s a good point!

Biab in my fermenter with a Brewjacket. 2 degree loss in one hour.

Fair! Surprisingly for my normal brew day this was less work than my regular setup where I goose the mash (I do a fly sparge anyways so some extra water heating and etc wasn’t much different from my normal process), but having hit the extact same efficiency as I normally would I see your point...

Biab in my fermenter with a Brewjacket. 2 degree loss in one hour.

I was getting tired of losing so much heat and having to goose the kettle a few times an hour as I’ve still been using a blanket for my insulation. While warming my strike water for a batch yesterday, blanket on hand, I was dashing around the house trying to find better insulation when it...

    Burnt honey hopped hydromel/braggot

I did the full volume batch. Turned out great. Might halve the hops next time as the utilization is really high and it's more like an ipa than a Pilsner. Not a problem as I like both styles, but I want to try something that will showcase the honey better.

    BuckWheat Mead

Edit: Whoops, I've already posted basically the same response in this thread. How time makes the mind grow duller.. Point is, my mead never improved.

    Burnt honey hopped hydromel/braggot

Just checking to see how everyone's brews turned out. I am going to be doing a full batch of my above recipe sometime in the next few weeks.

    Burnt honey hopped hydromel/braggot

Came out great! I will be making a five gallon batch of this. It was surprisingly beer like for a mead. Very citrusy session ipa ish instead of the pilsner profile I was going for, but I think the hop utilization was pretty high in the smaller batch, and I had a bunch of hops get out of my tea...

    Burnt honey hopped hydromel/braggot

So I went ahead an made the gallon batch of this. It's been fermenting for a few days, and is down to 1.010 and the body is pretty good. I'm hoping it doesn't go too much drier than 1.008, but I'm just going to let the yeast run its course. The saaz hops work really well with the honey, and I...

    Burnt honey hopped hydromel/braggot

I think for the first batch of this, I'm going to cut the grain. Will try to make it just a hopped hydromel bochet, and see if the honey can hold it's own. Going to start with a 1 gallon batch, carb with honey and backsweeten with something unfermentable if it comes out too dry. Will post...

    BuckWheat Mead

I made two gallons of buckwheat honey about 7 months ago. Unfortunately they got infected, but the taste up to the turning point was definitely promising. Maybe not something I would do full strength a second time, but I'd like to try a blend in the future. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew
