How to cut top completely away from keggle without a torch/plasma cutter

I replaced my keggle with a 20gal tri-clad-bottom kettle and my experience is that the kettle comes to a boil much faster than the same volume in the keggle.

Round / "Halo" Electric Elements w TriClamp or NPT Thread?

Nope, we're just coming to Bobby's defense against your single anecdotal experience. I have done a great deal of business with Bobby, and am 100% satisfied with his products and services. You, on the other hand, cite a single instance of a problem without ever contacting Bobby about it.

Pull Through (dimpled) TC Ferrules for Soldering Prototype Stuff

Hey Bobby, Just a heads-up that I mentioned your pull-through flaring tool in this month's Zymurgy as a follow-up to an article that I had published in last month's annual "Gadgets" articles. They also have a photo of it:rock:

Blue distillate and brown (copper?) flakes.

It's generally recommended that you should dilute any distillate that you intend to re-distill to not more than a 40% wash, mostly for safety reasons, and especially if using an open flame.

Pull Through (dimpled) TC Ferrules for Soldering Prototype Stuff

When I'm adding radiused flanges, it never hurts to "tin" both surfaces with flux and solder, let them cool, clean both surfaces. and then re-flux and solder. This way you're sure that both surfaces have solder around the entire perimeter. I normally use a threaded stainless steel rod and two...

    Swamp-cooled...

Here's my take on a "swamp-cooled" setup: The condenser is cooled with about 3 gallons of water recirculated with a fountain pump and an attic fan.

Blue distillate and brown (copper?) flakes.

Run it through a coffee filter to remove the flakes, add some sodium carbonate to convert any ethyl acetate back into ethanol, and re-distill, it should come out just fine. The sodium carbonate reacts with the ethyl acetate, creating ethanol and acetic acid. The acetic acid is then converted to...

    Sanke, don't cut top off

Bobby at Brew Hardware has radiused 1.5" tri-clamp flanges that can be silver-soldered to the keg, forming a sanitary, air-tight seal. I've used these to create a boiler with flanges for a tri-clamp heating element, tri-clamp butterfly valve, and thermowell. He also has flat and 2" flanges as...

    Tilt Pi for Tilt Hydrometer

The RPi Tilt software is already capable of monitoring multiple Tilts, as long as they are different colors, ie a red" tilt, a "purple" tilt, etc. The latest RPi version is simply a stripped-down version of ARM Debian Stretch. You can access the OS locally using user "pi" and password "tilt"...

Corney Kegs vs Torpedo Kegs (Morebeer)

I have five of the torpedo kegs, and much prefer them to the rubber-bottomed kegs, as they don't mar our tile kitchen floor, which keeps SWMBO happy.

What have you jury-rigged in your brewery that works better than something you could buy ready-made?

Built my own brewstand: Made a bottom-drain mashtun: A WiFi Temp Controller, A DIY QuickCarb: A new bottom-drain mashtun: A removable corney keg thermowell: and put tri-clamp ferrules on all of my pots and fermenters, among other projects. I love to tinker.
