Secondary Necessary to Add Cacao Nibs?

Brewed NB's Chocolate Milk Stout 2 weeks ago. Can I add Cacao nibs directly to by primary fermenter or should I rack to secondary? FG is steady. I know that you are supposed to use a secondary for fruit. How about for chocolate?

    Kegged hopped particles, solutions?

This has been my experience, as well. I usually dry hop with pellets in a nylon bag using dental floss in my serving keg and never have a problem. I dry hop 7-10 days, refrigerate, then tap the keg. Give it some time and I'm sure it will be fine.

    Beer Gas in CO2 Tank

Glad to hear that a number of you have done this without issues. Thanks for the info! Any of you naturally carb your nitro brews? Seems like a good way to do it so that you don't have to switch tanks back and forth between co2 for carbing and beer gas for serving.

    Beer Gas in CO2 Tank

Thanks, that's very helpful. So, if I understand you correctly, so long as the tank is filled below 1800 psi, there's no problem, correct? My home brew shop only exchanges tanks, so I'm assuming that they have the filling of the beer gas in CO2 tanks down. Nevertheless, I will make sure I have...

    Beer Gas in CO2 Tank

My LHBS says it will fill my CO2 tank with the beer gas 75% Nitrogen/25% CO2 mix for nitro dispensing. I have seen quite a bit of disagreement around here as to whether filling a CO2 tank with beer gas is wise to do. From what I gather, most of the concern seems to be around whether a CO2...

    Kill Shot Simcoe IIPA

Just brewed an all-Simcoe recipe similar to the ones described above. My only problem is that I am all out of Simcoe, can't find it anywhere, and have none left with which to dry-hop (which I always do with IPA's). So, do I not dry hop? Use some Cascade hops (which I have a lot of)? Use another...

Hop Adjustment Due to Alpha Acid Difference

I am about to brew the "All Amarillo IPA" from a recipe in the Extract Brewing section here on HB Talk, but I have a question about hop AA%. Should I be adjusting my hop additions if the AA% of my hops is different from what is called for in the recipe? I assume that I should, but I just want...

Dropped a pen into my Primary!

I dropped a dirty-ass rubber band in a brown ale once. 4 weeks later, my Rubber Brown Ale tasted great!

    Late Extract Addition

I've been reading quite a bit about the advantages of a late extract addition. Does it make any difference if I do it at flame out or 10 minutes prior? Seems like adding at the flame out would be easier because you don't have to bring it all back up to a boil. Am I right?

    Dry Hopping Question

Going to make Williams Brewing's American IPA kit in the next couple of days. The recipe calls for an aroma hops addition in the last 5-minutes of boiling. I would like to dry hop it (not in recipe). Should I not add the aroma hops at the end of the boil if I'm going to dry hop? I was going to...

    Dry Hopping in a Keg

Just finished drinking my first dry-hopped brew, and I didn't get the hop aroma I was looking for. I dry hopped in my keg and I believe the tea ball I used was much too small so the hop pellets were crammed in there too tight. This time, I'm planning on dry hopping in the primary instead of...

    Kegging Question

Just kegged my latest batch - siphoned beer in, closed keg, applied CO2, then shook gently for a moment or two to get things going. 15 minutes later, I realized I had forgotten to purge the keg of oxygen after I closed it and before I shook things up. I'm fearing I made a big mistake and that I...

    Opening a Regulator Gauge

Looks like perhaps I can pry off the plastic cover. Just didn't want to f it up. If that's how you did it, I'll give it a shot.
