    New Zealand Brewers

Well I brewed my cone hopped iipa yesterday, the cone hops absorb so much, my efficiency went down from mid 70s to 66% so I ended up with 17L rather than 19, and that was after putting the boil hops in my grain bag and squeezing as much liquid out as possible. Got my OG of 1.100 though so not...

Picked up a little something to brew an IIPA with. Will be my first use if cone hops and I'm using 500g of them for 19L batch. It will also be the first beer I try some special Agave syrup in which I got from a friend who works at a tequila distillery, and I might throw some Casa Noble Reposado...

Damn I'm keen to see the recipe, I've never got that low with any of my 10%+ brews (and it's not like I don't do enough of them) Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

Awesome, that should be interesting. I also bottled my Motueka Alesner, which had ended up being dry hopped for just over 2 months because I forgot to take the hops out before I went away. Tasted good but we'll see when it's carbed. I used the mangrove jacks workhorse yeast for the first time...

I kicked off 3 batches of my chocolate porter over the weekend. 1 batch will be pure chocolate porter, 1 will be aged on coffee beans to make coffee chocolate porter, both of these I've done before and finally the third batch will be split and aged half on vanilla and half on cocoa nibs. Looking...

Brewing a Motueka Alesner today, reasonably simple, just pilsner malt a bit of wheat and carapils, 150g of Motueka and the mangrove jacks workhorse (first time with this yeast) Sent from my GT-I9300T using Home Brew mobile app

Looks like a good mill. I was aiming for another 20%+ brew. Right now it's like sweet marmite, I'm probably going to have to pitch more yeast. This black NZ iipa is only my 2nd NZ hop combo IPA so I'm hoping the combination works, my first one was like fruit salad, hence why I did most from...

Nice, I'm thinking about try Brett soon. I just bottled my first black iipa, 150g each of Motueka, kohatu, Waimea and Wakatu and it's tasting like my most bitter beer ever! My super stout is struggling, not getting any action at 15-16% :( What grain mill are you thinking of getting ? Sent...

Saison split batch - Brett questions

I can't help you, sorry, I've never made a bretted beer but I'm considering it and would love to see the recipe you started with, I can get some 5526 cheap so if you wouldn't mind posting your recipe that would be great! Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

Just mashed in a rye pale ale called 'The Ryed Time'. Got a double brew day today so had to start early. I'll be doing a baby Citra saison later, although I had to sub in some NZ cascade as brewers coop were only had 60g of Citra left.

I got m27 today for a baby version of citra Saison, pretty much everyone is saying it's a quite spicy Saison yeast rather than a belgian duppel/tripel yeast

As I said, it's hard to describe. :-) I transferred my Cascading Lime (Belgian wheat with Cascade hops and lime added) it's the lowest abv beer I've done in a while at just over 5% but tasted pretty good when I transferred and it still needs a dry hop.
