How long do hops last in the fridge? Anyone make a kitchen sink IPA?

Well, cool. I'm gonna do that then this spring. All these spent hops have been ziplocked and/or Tupperwared and refrigerated so they should have at least some zip left. I'll just turn them loose in an ungodly amount of malt and see what comes out. Thanks!

How long do hops last in the fridge? Anyone make a kitchen sink IPA?

I'll be damned, so he does. I had completely forgotten about it. Thanks! So has anyone made a kitchen-sink beer with all their spent, semi-spent and, according to Daniels, "aged" hops? Or is that just a waste of several pounds of grain?

How long do hops last in the fridge? Anyone make a kitchen sink IPA?

So like most homebrewers I guess I've got all kinds of leftover hops from recipies which don't call for whole-ounce quantities. Three quarters an ounce of this, half an ounce of that, one and a half ounces because I forgot I had some of the other. Mostly pellets, but some plugs and probably...

    perfect brew pot size?

Oh heck. I typoed exactly the opposite of what I meant to say. Of course I meant that little liquid with extract, not all grain. Doh! At any rate, I'm learning to ignore the extract recipies on the subject of water levels.

Check out my Christmas ale idea

Hmm. Perhaps I'll ramp it down then. I have a history of adding too much to beers -- I think I just killed or injured a raspberry wheat dopplebock. ;) Yeah, I dunno about the plums. I put out a call to friends for tastes and aromas associated with the holidays and plum was the one that...

Check out my Christmas ale idea

I'm planning something not dissimilar. I went with a Brown Ale recipe as a base, then I ramped it up to get the ABV over 6 and replaced the English hops with citrus-y and woody ones (I hope to get my evergreen from Northern Brewer aroma hops rather than spruce in the secondary). Then spices...

    perfect brew pot size?

Extract or all-grain? I'm finding that my "five-gallon" batches, which are closer to three with all-grain, are evaporating too much in my 40-quart pot. The resulting wort is very heavy, hard to work with and sometimes even carmelizes slightly on the bottom. God forbid if I try to make a...

    Greetings from the Big Apple.

Hello, all. I've been homebrewing for about two years now, but I'm only now stepping up the pace -- with a second carboy I want to have a beer fermenting pretty much all the time. As I live in a rental apartment in New York City, my username describes my brewing status -- I've pretty much got...

    Hallertauer Hersbrucker

I've used this one twice, both in variations of a wheat dopplebock. Frankly, I wasn't impressed using it for that purpose. The small amounts called for in the recipe didn't do the job of balancing a very sweet, malty beer, despite the IBUs seeming about right. In the future I'll either about...
