    Good book for beginners?

I have a list of go-to books that I believe are some of the best for any brewer and a must-have for any Brewers Library. The Joy of Home Brewing: Charlie Papazian ISBN: 978-0-06-053105-8 The Home Brewers Companion: Charlie Papazian ISBN: 0-0380-77287-6 The home Brewers Handbook: Matthew...

    Clear Glass vs. Dark Glass

IMOP If you're cultivating yeast don't use clear. Back when I cultivated my own I had a number of bad experiences with clear and light causing either rapid uncontrollable growth or the uv killed off the yeast. I have had much better results with brown and amber bottles. Bottling ciders clear...

Hay Neighbor have a Gansette (Narragansett beer clone) Looking for

They were able to gat the late living brewmaster to recreate one of the recipes but he wasn't able to recreate their porter. I know the water from the ponds near by which is a huge part of the flavor. I as for the hops I need to rewatch the documentry to see but i remember them saying where the...

    Northern Brewer closed?

I just got one of their brewers in a box from them via amazon. it was missing quite a few things as most of them were small but enough to backlog my first brew since the fires. Messaged them via amazon (total hassle but not their fault) and they say they would be shipping the missing items out asap.

Anyone tried Fresh Wort Kits ?

What is this "Homebrew twang" I have brewed all extract brewing, extract with specialty grains & fresh hops brewing, and all-grain brewing and never noticed this twang you mention. I can say if I do the extract just add yeast style its much flatter or sweeter than any other method I've found...

    Re-introduction

sadly Insurance was a flop due to their horrid policies. my favorite brews are coffee-themed, porters, browns, and such as well as a few clones with my own twist to them like.

How do YOU clean your racking cane

I normally wash it with hot water and then soak in a bleach water soultion if theres buildup I like to use a small brush cut from a bruck like whats shown that i epoxy to a length of plastic coated wire with covered ends and will use that as a pull through like a barrel brush for my rifles...

Hay Neighbor have a Gansette (Narragansett beer clone) Looking for

I was wondering if anyone might have cloned any of the old Narragansett brewing company beers from before they made their comeback. My grandfather was one of their brewmasters in the 70's before they shut the doors in 81 of the Cranston street brewery. When the company made its comeback the...

How often do you extract brew?

I started brewing when I was 21 with extract brews then moved to all grain brewing a year or so later but would still do an extract brew routinely. For me as a two and sometimes 3 stage brewer aka keg conditioning. I like to have a new beer ready to pour into my first stage nearly right after I...

Pennsylvania Effect of wildfire smoke on hops

It depends on how bad the ash and smoke are, how long they are exposed, and how often. Also, how much of it gets into the soil really matters. Where I live in southeastern Washington The hops I had at my home in Malden survived the wildfire with little taste change to them a year later though...

    Re-introduction

Hay All I'm Charlaine. I've been away for a while after loosing my home to a wildfire in September 2020 in Malden Wa. . I'm now finally in a position to start rebuilding my brewing setup, and will now be brewing again. While I'm no where near where I used to be but hopefully I can get near to...

    Liberty Malt Supply Co. Recpies

Thank you I agree with you and do use many new recipes but I'm one of those who likes to try to take old kit recipes and make them much better. When i'm not searching for recipes like this I use brewing classic styles, clone beer bible, brewmasters bible, the complete book of home-brewing and...
