Control Products Dual Relay $60 Shipped on Amazon

So after putting it off for a while I finally got around to tackling this. I've never wired electronics before, so it's slow going (but fun). I have everything on LandoLincoln's list. The controller is wired up. And I think I'm wiring it to the receptacle/outlet correctly. But I have a few...

    Dry Hopping With Whole Hops...Mold!

Yeah man, aliens indeed! :D That makes sense, I probably aerated the beer a bunch as I was racking to secondary with the cane...I'll definitely try to be more careful going forward, and now have a spray bottle with Star San that I've been liberally applying to everything in sight...

    Dry Hopping With Whole Hops...Mold!

An update: everything went better than expected :) I just kegged it tonight and can tell it will be a good one. Thanks for the insights and votes of confidence! :mug: Here is another photo of the lacto/brett/moon surface/?, and one of the final result.

Motor size for a monster mill?

OK cool, thanks. So I've got the coupler nailed down but am still working on the gear reducer...Thanks for the input. How about one of these for a gearbox? http://ondrives.us/gearboxes.htm

    Dry Hopping With Whole Hops...Mold!

Nope. I've always followed a fairly routine process, and did not remove the stopper for anything other than dry hopping. However, here's my new theory: I had the opened, clamped-shut mylar bag of Northern Brewer whole leaf in my keezer. I'm still working out (read: procrastinating) the...

Motor size for a monster mill?

Sorry to resurrect and ancient thread, but I'm new to this concept and SankePankey seems to have gotten the exact result I'm after (I'm also an apartment brewer with limited space). My mill is the MM3 1.5": http://www.monsterbrewinghardware.com/mm-3.html. The motor I'm about to get (I don't...

    Dry Hopping With Whole Hops...Mold!

Interesting...so maybe this mold is a good thing  Either way, I racked to a clean carboy and am waiting for one of my cornys to run dry and then I'll give this beast a shot.

    Dry Hopping With Whole Hops...Mold!

Yeah, I'm not sure what I could have done...nothing but the racking cane touched the beer. My hands were clean. I've dry hopped plenty of times before but never with whole hops. Dunno, here's a closer shot of the mold. I guess I'll just rack the beer out and see how it goes.

    Dry Hopping With Whole Hops...Mold!

Now that's what I'm talking about! :mug: I tasted a bit when I was racking to secondary and I'd really hate to loose this batch. If you don't hear from me for a while, you'll know what happened, or at least how. :drunk: I kegged another batch tonight so I've got a few days to wait for...

    Dry Hopping With Whole Hops...Mold!

Hey Guys, So I took a look at the nice porter I dry hopped with 1oz Northern Brewer a few days ago, preparing to rack it to my corny and have a nice Sunday brew...WTF? It appears after 8 months of brewing I've ruined my first batch :( A search of the forums turned up this thread...

Guide to set internal chest freezer thermostat to >32F; Eliminate external control

diabolicaldon, do you know your model number? Mine is 297010501F, I think I read a few pages up that I should be turning CCW but it's worth a shot. I turned the keezer on and turned it all the way CW. It felt like I was tightening it, but in either case I'll have cold brew for a few hours...

Guide to set internal chest freezer thermostat to >32F; Eliminate external control

A slight update on my Frigidaire (I'll look up the model if anyone is interested), I've probably gone 10 turns CCW and it's still freezing the beer...oh well!

Might be selling a bunch of gear motors, could work great for grain mills

Guide to set internal chest freezer thermostat to >32F; Eliminate external control

You guys were absolutely right, the screw was right where you said it would be. See attached pics, one with tape one with it exposed. I could have read the very first post in this thread a little more closely and would have seen the same thing! :drunk: So I have a Frigidaire. Turned it 2 or...

Guide to set internal chest freezer thermostat to >32F; Eliminate external control

What an awesome thread! I popped open my Frigidaire this morning and now I'm stumped. I don't think this one has an adjustment screw...what do you guys think? I've been looking at the damn thing all morning and I'm stumped (not that that's very difficult :D). Thanks in advance!

Control Products Dual Relay $60 Shipped on Amazon

Thanks so much for the roadmap! Props to LandoLincoln (esp. as one who grew up outside Chicago), this is very helpful and heartening. :rockin: OK, off to the project (...eventually...)! I've got my push in the right direction.

Control Products Dual Relay $60 Shipped on Amazon

Oh god, I had really hoped not to read something like this...I have minimal wiring experience so this is going to be a nightmare for me :( Thanks for the tips though and I hope you get it running. I've been putting mine off for a while because I hoped to read someone's "look how easy this is"...
