    RIMS or HERMS?

Herms will work well one batch at a time but you cannot pre-heat water in the boil kettle if you already have wort boiling in it.....

    RIMS or HERMS?

I just installed this 1500 watt element on the left. It's really small so I can just remove the element and put it in a cup to soak if needed.

    RIMS or HERMS?

I have used both. I use Rims right now. The issue with herms that I found was having enough volume of water to cover the coil. For example if I need 12 gallons of water to mash in and I need at least 10 gallons to cover the coil but I have a 15 gallon pot I now have to add cold water and...

    RIMS or HERMS?

You have to measure coming out of the heat source to prevent over shooting your mash temp on a Rims. Otherwise you may have it going in at 150 and coming out at 165 because the temp dropped and the power kicks on at 100%. You have to consider the time it takes to filter through the mash.

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

FYI there are a few different conversion kits depending on the brand of keg.... You should get the kegs first then order the correct posts. I ended up ordering from http://www.cornykeg.com/index.asp?category=29144

http://www.perlick.com/bar-beverage-equipment/beverage-dispensing/glycol-cooled-dispensing-towers/ You can download the spec sheet and there is a picture showing how the top block is constructed. This tower is not designed for air cooling.

    Perlick 4-tap Install Help

I have a five tap tower. I put a reservoir of liquid in the bottom of the keezer and put a pump on it to cool through the copper lines. As for the stainless lines mine have a 3/16 barb on the end. I would cut the copper lines to make them straight and put some hose over them with a clamp...

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

I was able to fit them after adding the ball lock conversion kit. It's a tight fit. There are already sections of the lid hollowed out so I had to rotate the kegs so the post was in one of those spaces to fit.

    natural gas plumbing

I used just plain old rubber reinforced hose. Bought it by the foot at Lowes. Put it on brass barbs and added some clamps. It's not "as safe" since it can be punctured but I figured I would be the only one using it. On brew day I just gave the connections a few squirts with my star San...

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

I use a portable co2 paintball tank setup. You may be able to get a 2.5 lb tank that will fit but the 5lb will not fit.

    natural gas plumbing

Quick disconnects with a valve works fine. I am all electric now but I have this in my utility room in the house and I used a plain old rubber hose on the disconnect and ran it out the dog door to the patio. Some may say it's not safe but you just need to use common sense.

Brew Day Ruined by Wort Chiller

I have seen this a few times. The vinyl gets too hot and is prone to tear. I would pick up some high temp silicone tubing and never worry about it again. Or you can leave it in star San until you turn on the hose and it will keep the temps down. Jeff
