    so, a multi part question

By wasting grain I meant that I got 10% efficiency from the 2-row and crystal. How's this look for the grain bill? 7# maris otter 2# 2-row .5# crystal 10 .25#crystal 20 .25 crystal 120 or should I just go 9# maris otter?

    so, a multi part question

I brewed a beer and my SWMBO and I really like it. All seems good right? It is. BUT, I thought this beer was fuqed. It was an extact with steeping grains. I did not know that some grains do not do well in a steep. Now I do. After I brewed I realized my "mistake". Here's the recipe. 2.5#...

    Help, O.G. very low

Well, I am brewing another centennial blonde right now. It is going well. The other brew is almost done fermenting, don't expect much, but I have a billy goat in my house that will drink just about anything. Got a rye coming up tomorrow, and a brown ale on tuesday. Gonna get that pipeline going...

    stupid mistake maybe

I kegged a beer about 10 hours ago. I forgot to purge the O2 out, never in 30 kegs or so has this happened, and just vented it. Is this going to be a problem? I plan to have the keg empty in about 2-3 weeks.
  12. wormsgetsold

How long will a keg last at room temp

It depends on the beer from what I understand. I left a non descript 4.6% ale in a keg at 75* for 5 months, not meaning to-just forgot about it, with no ill effects compared to the same beer I bottled. I don't know much though. How long are you looking to hold the keg?

    Help, O.G. very low

Brewing is a blast, and quickly becoming an obsession. I am not throwing the brew out, although I am looking at a 3.7% beer-great for a central texas summer day. I totally agree that mistakes are learning experiences at their best. I was just going to do it again because I have a couple of empty...

    Help, O.G. very low

I sparged with 170* water after I drained the mash water down to about an inch above the grain bed. Pretty sure the problem, as EdWort pointed out, was a lack of stirring. And by lack of stirring I mean none after the initial stir to break up clumps. In fact, I was worried about disturbing the...

    Help, O.G. very low

well, yes, it was a hydrometer read error on my part. yes, the grain was crushed. By Austin Homebrew Supply. I ended up with 4 1/2 gallons at 1.037. I think that happened due to not stirring during the mash or lauter. I figure the best way to learn is to mess something up. Trying...

    Help, O.G. very low

Yeah, I just figured that out. corrected hydrometer reading is 1.040. Now the problem is I only have 3 gallons or so of wort. I still have about 2 gallons of water in the MLT at around 145 now. Should I use it, or just correct the hops and make a 3 gallon batch?

    Help, O.G. very low

This is my first AG brew. I am making the centennial blonde. After mashing at 153 for 60 minutes I collected about 3 gallons of wort. the SG is 1.020. I feel like everything went well. The wort coming out of my MLT is 1.005. I stopped and the mash has another 3 gallons of water in it sitting at...

Brew Hut Raising Weekend - 4/25

Awesome set up. Just my .02 but I know little about brewing and a lot about audio. Buy something for inside and put them outside. Just make sure it is covered and bring them inside if the weather looks bad. I have $5000/pair studio monitors and settled on a pair of $150 Polk speakers for the...
