    Keezer/ tap wall setup?!

That's a bummer to hear. I'm thinking more like 8 taps. But also more like a 8 or 10" insulated PVC run to allow plenty of flow. I'll need to figure something out though.. I had to do a lot of sucking up to talk my bride into letting me have 8 taps in her kitchen!! I refuse to go back down stairs!!!

    Keezer/ tap wall setup?!

I was just thinking up something like this today.. trying to keep the freezer outside, but the taps inside. I was going to cut a hole though the wall and make an insulated run going straight to the collar. it would be less than 4 feet to taps. could make the hole as big as I wanted as long as it...

35 gallon heavy duty brew pot with conical shaped bottom

I picked up almost this exact same tank last week out a ways past Howell.... they are pressurized paint tanks, mine had the stainless steel mixing paddles, gear box, pneumatic motor ect installed yet as well.. mine's only a 3/4 pipe in the middle.. with the mixing arm, I 'm using this for a mash...

    mash tun stainless mixer

yea, but I get stuff cheap lol. this 38 gallon, 3/16th thick stainless tank with bottom drain and a binks 4 paddle stainless mixer with 20:1 gear reduction I picked up for 100 bucks. just need to add a false bottom. a march pump is in my future. if the mixer doesn't work, which I don't see why...

    mash tun stainless mixer

I have not fired it up yet. but I assume it should mix OK.. it's got 2 pairs of paddles on it. all kicking up in different directions.. I got it dirt cheap so if it doesn't work I can scrap it... but I'm hoping it will mix well. I've been reading up on that.. thanks for the tip!

    mash tun stainless mixer

Not sure if this is the right location for this, but since im building it, we can't be to far off. I started of brewing BIAB. I've got a 40 gallon stainless tank. I've decided to go traditional single tier. I picked up another 37 gallon tank that ill use as my mash tun. Its pre made with a 3/4...

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

I tried a double batch of this last week. transferred to secondary tonight. I had just under 12 gallons so my primary pails were a bit more full than normal. Used Knottingham yeast. when I pulled the lid off the primary, it had a very odd odor. very stong, pungent.. not very pleasant. I took a...

    Reflectix - My Rreview (BIAB)

my buddy and I were going to do this exact same thing. saw the stuff at lowes. I've got a 40 gallon kettle. right now we just bungie a blanket around it. drops about 6 degrees over a 60 minute boil. but didn't like the "look" of a blanket wrapped around it.. plus kind of a pain in the butt by...

    2 Questions about sanitation

go to your local home depot-ish type place. I picked up the cheap, plastic wall paper trays. they are long enough for my biggest cane and only a couple bucks and you only have to fill them a few inches high!

flame air space with banjo burner

which burner element? I have the big banjo with an actual adj welding regulator with the dual gauges. I can run some 1/2 key stock in like 1" lengths around my flywheel leaving gaps between and set the pot on it and do a test run with some water this weekend. I thought it did well the way it...

flame air space with banjo burner

Does fire shoot out the side holes on your blichmann? Im going to put a grill igniter in eventually...

flame air space with banjo burner

I've read where people are cutting off the legs on the banjo stand to raise the burner height. That's where I got my 1.5 inch dimension. I can bore a few 1" ish size holes in the flywheel no problem to help view the flame.. I wonder how much the air gap will improve my boil time.

flame air space with banjo burner

Tried searching for this with my phone. Not really getting the answer/advice im looking for. Partially because I don't know what to call it. I've got a 40 gallon kettle that I made up a stand to use with a banjo burner. My "wind screen" is a 16" flywheel that I got from work. I machined the...

    40 gallon kettle biab

thanks guys.. it was actually a stainless tank of something back in it's "day". still a flat bottom. I got it from a guy who was in a brew club that no longer brews. they bought like a dozen of them and built them for the members. but it's heavy walled compared to traditional pots. 19" by just...

    40 gallon kettle biab

Yes! That's what I told him. Setting up my pot in beersmith and going to do a boil off rate next week once my sight glass is installed and my banjo is running. He said that produces off tastes.. thanks for confirming!

    40 gallon kettle biab

New to this whole brewing gig. My buddy and I do strictly biab at the moment. He went out and got the blichmann 60 quart. I found a steel on a 40 gallon stainless kettle. I think his blichmann is 15.5" across. Mine is only 19. Im never going to be doing anything smaller than 5 gallon finish...
