WebControl I/O PIC for controller? BCS-like

It's sure cheaper than a BCS-460 and having 8 temp inputs is cool, but the BCS-460 is pretty well thought out as a brewery application. I have one, I haven't implemented it yet but playing around with it, it's a pretty powerful unit.

    Pressure cooker - poor sanitation

I'll also comment that you should never, ever, try to speed up the cooling process! I tried to cool mine quicker and release the pressure before it was ready..... Turns out that'll make the wort boil in the jars and creates one HELL of a mess!:drunk:

    Pressure cooker - poor sanitation

This is the procedure I use. The lids need to be on the jars and as they start to cool they will pull a vacuum. I've used wort canned 2 years ago with no issues. It's clear as can be and smells as good as day one.

Stainless wall thickness for Brutus 10?

Man that's a good price for .063 wall. .063 wall is plenty strong enough for that design, .120 wall is overkill. I have .063 wall ready to go to make a Brutus type clone right now.

    Why Blichmann Kettles?

I have Blichmann and B3 HD Kettles. The Blichmann is more refined but not any heavier gauge. The only 'complaint' which is more of an observation is that the Blichmann does not have a clad bottom which I feel it should for the money. The site glass and thermometer and valve are all very top...

    1bbl gravity powered brewhouse?

Here's another idea.... It would be pretty elaborate, but what about designing and building gravity powered pumps? I was thinking about an old grandfather clock we had that used weights to power the clock. Weights cranked into position could be converted to rotational energy that can be...

    1bbl gravity powered brewhouse?

That would actually be ( I don't want to use the word cool) very very awesome. This way each vessel would be at ground level, stable and safe and easy to get to. I like it, I really hope you pull this off.

    1bbl gravity powered brewhouse?

If you lived on a hillside you'd be set. Otherwise it seems like a lot of very hot liquids would need to be very high in the air. Assuming you don't live on a hillside, I would think the cost of the extra steel to stabilize that weight up high would easily offset the cost of pumps. If power...

Home Made Glycol Chiller from A/C unit

Hi Phill, You could do a couple things. On mine, I have these thin film heaters that are taped ti the cone with aluminum tape. They are low wattage 110V and work great. I have 3 per cone wired in parallel. Unfortunatly, I got them from a surplus dealer and they are no longer available...

    Dual use ranco controller?

oops!!! I do stand corrected! I didn't read that right the first time and focused on the power issue which he said he'd use an external relay. The Ranco controller will not read two independent sensors at the same time. You can use a group of 4 to average temps across an area by wiring...

    Dual use ranco controller?

Sure! The best way IMHO is to convert the Ranco to have a removable probe. It's very simple, just open it up, cut the probe wires and solder them to a panel mount jack, then solder a plug to the probe wires. This way you can have a probe dedicated to what ever you intend to control. The...

    Does Ranco ETC-111000 have...

I have both but most of my experience is using the Ranco. The A419 I have is on my big fridge and I just set and forget it. I've used the Ranco's for my digital HLT and glycol chiller. I think they are both good units and I'm not really aware of anything one will do that the other wont...

    Does Ranco ETC-111000 have...

Sure, you can set say a 3* differential and then place the probe in a thermowell and place that in a container of water. The water will approximate the temp of your beer and won't change rapidly. I can't remember which side the differential is on, but let's say the low side: That means that...

    Does Ranco ETC-111000 have...

Not exactly, but you can set a temp differential of up to 4* to prevent short cycling.

    Sanke Fermenter Conversion

You're welcome! Thanks for the business! I'll look up the McMaster numbers on them, but you have to buy 100 of the small ones and 10 of the big ones at a time. If you NEED an extra set, just send me a SASE with the email address you used to buy one and I'll just send you a set.

Is this microbrewery system a good deal?

Looks like a lot of stuff for the money, but how about coming on and saying "Hey, I have this for sale" instead of spamming with your first post and then moving into sales pitch mode with your second post?

    Sanke Fermenter Conversion

The ideal situation is to use a siphon to move the beer out, but a slight amount of CO2 can be used to push the beer out, provided you don't allow the keg to pressurize since there is no relief valve. Leaving the racking cane in place allows you to make sure it's sanitized with t rest of the...
