    What about right-angle beer line?

Let me see if I understand what you were saying. I googled why to have beer lines sit atop your kegs, but didn't see any immediately specific answers. What about coiling the loose 6ft beer line around its respective keg. What is the concern for such a short travel distance to sit atop the keg...

    What about right-angle beer line?

Hi, Any reason I can't/shouldn't use a right-angle DuoTight connector directly behind the faucet shank? As you see in the picture, it would allow me to snake the beer lines more efficiently and aesthetically pleasing. Would it cause the beer to foam? Also, FWIW, (at the time of this post) my...

Pressure fermenting in a plastic carboy

Thanks for the link. I read thru majority of pg1 and part of pg2. I will definitely keep it in mind. I would like to give it a try, but per my setup, the idea of cleaning up 5 gallons of beer causes me to strongly consider supporting the economy first. Haha I have available kegs, so will use...

Pressure fermenting in a plastic carboy

Thanks for that explanation! I learned something new every day. :) Okay, I'll just use the kegs. Cheers!

Pressure fermenting in a plastic carboy

Hi, So, I can pressure ferment in my kegs, but am wondering about using my Big Mouth Bubblers (BMB). I have heard to only use vessels rated for pressure fermenting, but I was not able to find a pressure spec for this carboy. At most, I don't think I'd be over 35 PSI, so would that plastic...

Rubber gasket on keezer lid is sweating

Yep, I think you're right. I'll shut it down, get the lip dried off and fill it with air to isolate the leak(s), then I'll have an idea of what I've facing. I'll report back. :) It's actually a convenient time as I just emptied that keg. EDIT: When I built that collar, I didn't have access to...

Rubber gasket on keezer lid is sweating

Yeah, the air compressor approach sounds smarter. All 4 taps are the same height. Just verified no cool air was leaking from them. The lid opens above the collar.

Rubber gasket on keezer lid is sweating

I purchased the freezer this Spring, but as far as I can tell, the gasket is okay. A funny thought just crossed my mind: dry off all of the condensation, pump the keezer full of CO2 and use a spritzer bottle to locate the leak. I wonder how much CO2 it would take out of my 20# tank. Haha (but...

Rubber gasket on keezer lid is sweating

Hi, The rubber gasket on my keezer lid is sweating profusely. Before the humid summer began here in the Midwest, I thought it was an air leak with the lid not sealing properly, but often, I find there was/is a strong suction to overcome in opening the lid, so now I'm wondering if it's merely...

How to go from 5mm duotight to 3/8" barb

I like your approach, even if a bit more tedious. I will buy a swaging tool and go for it. I'll post pictures when it's done. Thanks! :)

How to go from 5mm duotight to 3/8" barb

Hi, First off, I love this duotight and EVA-Barrier system for both liquid & gas lines. I may post about my experience with it in the future. I'm getting ready to purchase the iTap bottle filler, but I want to run my methodology for connecting a 5mm EVA-Barrier line to a 3/8" barb fitting on...

The world's ugliest beer: Let's adjust the recipe

So, I may have achieved the head on those 2 glasses with an aggressive poor. Yep, looking back at the time stamps on the pictures, that was day 2 of being carbed. My family was visiting and I was trying to get it carbonated quickly as possible, so I had it sitting at 34# of CO2 for the first...

Okay glad to know it's just that! Cheers!

The world's ugliest beer: Let's adjust the recipe

Okay, side question about this beer ... What is causing the beer to appear to separate around the perimeter of the glass? Notice how the beer is transparent at the edge, but has color everywhere else. What causes that?

The world's ugliest beer: Let's adjust the recipe

Thank you for the tips! And now, for some clarification as you've probably brewed more than me so we might measure "more" differently. What range of sugar are you thinking? 1/2lb? 1lb? 2,000grams? Also, since this will increase the ABV, should I keep the addition of sugar at no more than 1lb?

The world's ugliest beer: Let's adjust the recipe

(P.s. The ugly beer was merely ugly due to the all of the adjuncts sitting/floating in the carboy for the entire 5wks. When I transferred it to the keg, I did so using a BIAB bag as a particulate strainer.) Okay, so here's the update after a week of drinking it. It is an easy drinker, but it...

The world's ugliest beer: Let's adjust the recipe

haha Hi. So, I brewed the world's ugliest beer. Let's talk about it! :p The recipe is a Belgian citrus wheat ale. Having recently finished my keezer build, buying a new kettle and moving from LME kits to BIAB recipes, I wanted to do a all-grain recipe. Now, I found the conversion for LME to DME...

What is this in my new kettle?

Thanks! This make/model of citric acid sounds good; is this what I should purchase? One further question though: since kegs are also stainless steel, do I also need to perform an acid bath them as well? I recently purchased a 4pk of used kegs and have had craft meister's keg cleaning tablets...

What is this in my new kettle?

Hi, First time using this new "Mega pot" kettle. I just filled it with 5 gallons of water, albeit, lime heavy tap water and brought to a near boil, before turning of the burner and propane tank to run to the store to get spring water. Upon returning just now, I noticed this in the bottom of my...
