    Water filter cartridge storage.

This is what I do with my hand-pump water filter that I use for backpacking.. No baddies in it yet and it's seen quite a few trips with water much nastier than tap.

Harmless ways to keep folks on their toes

We used to do this to each other with the ambulances. There was a battery kill switch to keep the electronics from draining the battery - hit that, turn on EVERY. SINGLE. electronic device in the cabin, lights, and siren set to hyper-yelp. One of my going away gifts was setting up every...

    Just in from WI

Welcome! A trip to Wisconsin - and trying EVERY local beer that was available at the Anchor Bar in Superior is what got me into homebrewing! :mug:

    Wet shaving thread.

Switched to a straight razor and a strop a couple months ago. I used to get really bad razor burn towards the end of the week with a mach3, and that's completely gone. Except for the one time I took it easy on the stropping for a day - had a couple good bleeders after that, but once I started...

    hydrometer reading help

To get an accurate reading, the top of your beer should be at eye level. The liquid will dip in the middle, that dip is called the "meniscus" - you want to read the level at the bottom of the meniscus for the most accurate gravity.

    Blue moon with orange clone

Mine went through the whole process incredibly fast - I was going to make a post here about it actually. It got to the FG it was supposed to (1.010) after a week of fermentation, so I bottled it and it carbed up in 5 days. It's still kind of sharp after another couple weeks, but definitely...

Used grain ideas- what to do with it???

To each their own, but I wouldn't ever feed my spent grains to my horses.. The chickens on the other hand, come running when they see me coming with a big old bowl of grain. To the OP, if someone near you raises pigs or chickens, you might be able to barter with them.. (EDIT: I'm always late...

    Blue moon with orange clone

I just did a 5 gallon extract orange witbier using 1oz of dried peel. The orange scent/taste starts off really strong, but it mellows pretty nicely as it ages..

    Can bottle shape affect taste

I don't mind rainbows but WTF!?

Agree with the leave it or barkeeper's friend. We use it on all our stainless and it makes it shine up real nice, but who do you have criticizing the inside of your brew pot?? PS - Don't ever use barkeeper's friend on aluminum.. learned that the hard way..

Cooler mash tun - forget about hose clamps

Thanks SilverZero - I'll probably get the 10 gallon round now.. conpewter, would brass cause problems? With a stainless hose clamp, aren't you clamping over top of brass anyway? I wouldn't want to use this if it's going to cause problems..

Cooler mash tun - forget about hose clamps

Hi all, I've been lurking here for awhile now.. learning a lot from all of you who are WAY more experienced than I am. I'm about a month into this excellent hobby, with an imperial nut brown in the secondary, and a witbier than just went into bottles yesterday (both extract) I decided to...
