    First brew completed!

Congrats. I reccommend the Midwest Pumpkin Ale kit if you want to do a nice seasonal fall beer. I have mine fermenting now, and the wort tasted absolutely glorious. A very easy kit for beginners like us.

    First Bottling Day

No... Fifty at once was my own idea of what hell would be like. Absolutely awful.

    First Bottling Day

Is there anything Oxyclean can't do?

    Pumpkin Ale

Extract on this particular brew. Maybe i was exaggerating a LITTLE bit on the amount of pumpkin... Haha.

    First Bottling Day

Thanks for the tip. Yeah, since it was my first go-around, I didn't really think to soak the bottles for more than 5-10 minutes. I used steel wool to scrub the glue off. It was a mess. I'll soak them for longer next time.

    First Bottling Day

It's a real pain. I was ready to start kegging about halfway through.

    First Bottling Day

So, I got the my first batch into bottles yesterday. For those of you who are just starting out, let me assuage your fears and say that no matter what you can possibly F up during your first brew day, I F'd up, and my FG turned out to style and the beer tastes like beer. RDWHAHB. Seriously...

    Pumpkin Ale

60 oz? Man up. I'll probably double that. :mug: Apparently this is a popular kit. I'm starting it tonight, I believe.

Great deal for a small batch brewer ($16 for 6,8,12,16qt stainless steel pots w/lids)

Ordered a set today. Brewing hopefully next week or this weekend, depending how fast my stuff gets here from Northwest... I'll report back with my findings..

    Induction cooker?

Fascinating. The guy with the blog got his for 68 bucks and is doing 5 gallons? These things should work like a charm for 2.5 gal boils. Definitely will be on my wishlist. Thanks guys for all the info and research.

    Induction cooker?

If you find out, let me know, that would be a PERFECT solution for me and a lot of other people with space issues.

    Tried first one today

Cream ale. Light like an American beer. None of the cold-fermenting problems of a lager.

    Ordering my brewery TONIGHT!

I've had no problems so far with patience, knowing that once I get this brew bottled and get it going to conditioning, I'll have another started, etc.. It's that perspective that has allowed me to see that I'm going to have a nice pipeline of beer going at all times, and to me it justifies the...

Great deal for a small batch brewer ($16 for 6,8,12,16qt stainless steel pots w/lids)

Man, that's tempting. Especially since I'll be going with an electric stovetop for a lot of my boils where it'd be tough to get water boiling in a bigger pot... You guys think the big one in that set will do the job for 2.5 gal brews without any significant risk for disastrous boilover?

    Bugs

Homebrewing is maybe the only hobby on earth where you are creating a consumable and bugs are perfectly acceptable per a majority of the room. Unless your hobby is bug-eating. F that, though. Beer is so much better.

    Tried first one today

Congratulations. I'm jealous. Mine's still fermenting. Can't wait to pop the top on the first one. I have a good feeling about it, thanks to the incredible help of everone here, I'm feeling very confident.

A Better Brewer's Best American Cream Ale?

Hey guys... Considering for my second brew something a little more palatable to some friends who are not quite versed / haven't developed a taste for stronger microbrews... A large number of them are drinkers of Genny Cream Ale, which I don't mind in terms of a "drink it to get drunk" beer...

My beer seems to be conditioning very slowly

Would be curious as to how to deal with this inconsistency when it comes up also...
