Oatmeal Stout Dwarven Warrior Oatmeal Stout

what I did to modify it was to replace the oat malt with flaked oats. While the beer was still really good, I thought it tasted better to me as in the original recipe.

Irish Red Ale Raging Red Irish Red Ale

well... for the style, none... but if you want aroma... use something that smells good to you. For me I love to use cascades or citra for aroma hopping.

any clean fermenting yeast will work. when I can't get whitelabs I use US-05 dry yeast. Wyeast 1056 is the same as Whitelabs 001

you can double it and it'll be fine. or if you enter the recipe into BeerSmith there's a scaling feature built in.

    BIAB Keggle Design

if you cut the bottom for the keggle opening, then you can have a center drain using a tri-clover fitting to attach the CFC. this will allow it to be removed for extreme cleaning and/or replacement.

I thought about oaking it just to give it a shot, I just never got around to it. Was going to oak my oatmeal stout next time I make it, might oak this one at the same time. If you do oak yours, please let me know how it turns out.

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

had to pour a glass to go with dinner tonight. I was going to be taking the keg camping this weekend but the weather has decided that camping wasn't a good idea. That's ok. Means I get to drink more of it myself instead of sharing with 150 people.

you also need to know the volume of liquid collected. for example, if you were shooting for a gravity of 1.040 and got 1.040 you'd be happy and think you got the exact efficiency you were expecting. but if you collected 6 gallons post boil instead of 5.5 gallons and had that gravity you had to...

well said. Which is why I'm happy to consistently get 75-80% total brewhouse efficiency. What some people fail to realize is, you have to know your exact volumes to get an exact efficiency. being off a half gallon can throw the numbers off a few % points. I calibrated my mash rake as well as my...

Irish Red Ale Raging Red Irish Red Ale

exactly.. the honey in my recipe is simply there as an easy boost to the ABV. if you want a little sweeter beer then please by all means use the honey malt. Both ways make a great beer (yep, I tried the honey malt too). Either way you will get a beer that is a deep red in color, with a roasty...

there have been some that tested voile with an electric element by wrapping the voile around the element and heating the water. it didn't melt. I have never used anything under my bag with my propane burner and have never had issues. I do stir non-stop if heating and only heat when doing a...

best tip for cloudy wort... ignore it. the beer will still turn out crystal clear and it doesn't hurt the flavor at all
